Local shop finally has a '14 A model on the floor so I stopped by to see it in person as I await the arrival of my ES.

Really like the color!

Noticed that Yamaha now has a matte finish on the engine cases, some frame sections and the rear swing arm, not the nice smooth, shiny finish like my '03. When did Yamaha change this?

Also, no "flap" on the front of the rear inner fender on this particular bike.

They had this FJR parked next to a new dark red Kawi Concours 1400, made the FJR look that much better!

the '13s do not come with the mud flap either.

My 014 has the flap. Cost me eight dollars. Still waiting for the air intake cover.

I went to see one last weekend. So I sold my snowmobile tonight & my '10 FJ's soon going on the block as well............

The matt finish on the engine cases is a good idea. The shinny stuff on the earlier models was subject to discoloration.

The flap missing on some of the GenIII's is a matter of someone simply not putting it on the bike at the processing center. If you get a bike and it is missing you should insist that the dealer get one and put it on at no cost to you.

Not sure if this is completely accurate, but my '14ES included the flap when I picked it up at the dealer!

My '014A does not have the rear fender flap, nor do I see it on the fiche. Anyone have a part #, or a workable solution?

Thanks.

#28 in this parts diagram. The flap is universal on Gen 2 and Gen 3 (possibly Gen 1 also, but not sure).

I saw my first '14 a couple weeks ago at my local dealer; then I saw one in traffic right after that -

I do like the color but my '09 blackie is gonna have to do for awhile. I do have a $20K credit line with Yamaha Finance, but no way I'm going crazy with that at least until they make 'em in black - that way I could sneak it in and maybe wifey wouldn't notice...
