Tks for the input on my previous post. I contacted University Motors and they suggested Spiegler lines with a 2-line front settup. Any feedback on how brake operation is affected by going to 2-lines vs the combined line that's fitted stock?

I have the two-line setup on my 2003 FJR. You will love it.... particularly given we have the smaller 298mm rotors, vice the 320mm everyone else has.

I wish I went with the Spiegler lines, but at the time, I was experimenting with the Galfer lines. They are also pretty good, though not quite on par with the Spieglers, IMO:

Here's how I routed the two lines through the triple-tree area... a couple of aircraft hydraulic line clamps retain the cables in place and prevent chaffing:

Here's the final full brake system upgrade package: Galfer Wave rotors, Galfer SS lines w/ gold-anodized fittings, and for that last bit of killer bling, gold-anodized Grade 5 Titanium rotor carrier bolts and caliper bolts:

Would braided lines make any difference on an ABS bike? I mean - the system is already calibrated to provide maximum braking - and how does it get better than that? (performance - not bling)

The OEM lines have a little bit of elasticity to them in that they expand a tiny bit when under pressure. this causes a 'dulling' of feedback to the lever. Braided lines do not have this elasticity. Also, the OEM lines caused me to learn to ease up a tiny bit on the lever as I came to a stop to compensate for the elasticity. With braided lines the feel is more linear so I don't have to compensate at the lever.

Also, I expect the braided lines to last for the life of the bike, while the OEMs have a limited life.

I have Spiegler two lines on my 05 FJR non-ABS. They have 25k miles on them and no problems at all. Honestly, as the OEM brakes on my bike are so strong, I could not detect any change in effective braking with the braided 2 line system.

Tks for the pic post Warchild...very sweet. Wave rotors are a future upgrade. I'm sticking with the lines for now. I like the hydraulic clamps idea. I was thinking I might have had to fab up a wire retainer but the clamps are a better fix.

I read something on Fireblade.com to the effect that individual lines don't come on as hard initially but have greater power and are easier to modulate.

+1 on the full Galfer setup.

Love the extra power the rotors provide and the enhanced feel of the braided lines.

A rather large difference compared to stock!!

+1 on the two line setup. Have them on my Meanstreak after the recomendation of Cyclebrakes. Two finger stops and no mushy feeling in the lines.
