Got my bike saturday, didn't get to ride till sun. Got in right at 200mi. very nice day about 72deg. sunny light wind. After much delibiration I desided to go with the (moto man) brake in. Seems to run great, this is my first FJR, had a triumph sprint st before this. The wind shield is nice, it used to take me 20min. on the sprint to change to a taller screen. She has some very mild vibs at about 4000rpm., but I bet they will go away with more miles. I am 6'4" and if I duck down about 3or4in. there is a very calm and quiet air space with the screen up, if they made a taller screen it would be perfect. I didn't notice any motor heat on my legs, but maybe it's not hot enough yet. Bags are super, there big, and easy on and off. No ugly brackets like the sprint. All in all it's perfect. bete

Hello Bete,

Glad to hear you have received your new toy and am enjoying it right away on a 200 mile ride.

We all will be looking forward to further ride reports and impressions from you!

I broke in my 05 FJR using Motoman's break-in method too and the bike runs smooth as glass and gets 43 to 45 mpg per tank. I did the break-in over 30 miles then returned the bike to the dealer and changed oil, oil filter and final drive oil.

I will be picking up my new '06 FJR in beginning of May according to Tony and doing the break-in right then and there, returning it to change oil, oil filter and final drive as before.

Then it's straight out on another road trip taking that bad boy on a trip through the Ozarks to properly scuff the tires on those twisty mountainous roads north of Hot Springs.

Bete/SMC,

Can you guys expand on the moto man breakin method? I am traveling to Texarkana in the next few weeks and driving back 380 miles to Austin, TX and want to make sure I observe the proper breakin.

Regards,

ATX,

Try this... Motoman webpage

Good luck with Tony and the guys in Texarkana. I did a Motoman breakin (take the road in front of the dealership to the left... it's fairly straight and rural... you can do the accel/decel he calls for easily with 15 miles out and 15 miles back). I took my '05 out for a 30 mile jaunt, brought it back, and they changed the oil and filter before my ride back to Houston... Engine has been running like a charm ever since.
