While looking for a 2006/2007 I found this 2003 FJR1300A for sale on a local CraigsList and then also on eBay for $200 less.

Yamaha FJR1300 ( FJR 1300 A ), 2003, Silver, 30k miles. $4900.
Bike is serviced and ready to go, all systems works as should. Clean title.

Scratches here and there, but very minor.

Good front tire, brand new rear tire (expensive Michelin Pilot Road 3 with 0 miles on it!).

Many Extras:

DynoJet Power Commander for ignition, L&R sliders, Corbin touring seat, High touring windshield, GIVI Maxia Monokey system topcase (biggest available, fits 2 full-size helmets easy) with extra stop-signal and passenger backrest, standard RAM mount ball for your equipment in the center of the fork, 12V power outlet, L&R extra panorama mirrors, Philips white headlamps.

Comes with 2 standard saddlebags, both have inside liner Yamaha bags. User and Service manual. 2 sets of keys both for the bike and GIVI case. Some oil filters and air filters and other parts, heated grips kit (needs to be installed).

For sale by owner, foreign diplomat leaving US – it’s the only reason to sale.
I suspect the diplomat may be Russian from the stickers on the saddle bags lids.

I'm starting to wonder if this Gen I motor is a good deal I should consider, even though it does not seem to have ABS.

What do you all think? Is the price about right?

I got my 03 in july of 02 and it has been great. Some complain about heat but mine has never been an issue. The 03 is considered the quickest of the bunch but they all get the job done. I wouldn't be afraid of it.

Looks like a pretty good deal to me. I'm like Ray the heat on my `05 never bothered me.Though I know some have had issues with it.

The seller of this 2003 redid his Craigslist ad on 8/26/12 so the price is now $4900 like on ebay. I'm just now sure I want to settle for no ABS. That is a feature I swore I'd get on my next motor over fifteen years ago. I just didn't know when I originally made that decision that I'd end up riding a 17 year old Concours due to financial problems from a job loss twelve years ago.

I suppose the fact that I have yet to test ride an FJR is also retarding the urge to run out and get one. If I was truly in love with the FJRs from test riding one I'd probably just jump on this example even though I have a perfectly good 17 year old Concours to ride.
