Got my January 2010 issue of Motorcycle Consumer News and they summarized FJR Model Years Performances on page 35.

2003 FJR: [email protected] seconds; [email protected] seconds; 0-1/4 [email protected] seconds; 0-1/4 mile miles per [email protected]

2007 FJR: [email protected] seconds; [email protected] seconds; 0-1/4 [email protected] seconds; 0-1/4 mile miles per [email protected]

2006 FJRAE: [email protected] seconds; [email protected] seconds; 0-1/[email protected] seconds; 0-1/4 mile miles per [email protected]

This IS proof that you're bike is also certified!
At ease, Sr. Jorge! Are you somehow suggesting FJRay and Papa Chuy are certifiably deranged, senile and Alzheimered out?
No, not at all! You guyz are pioneers, but just as it says on your AVATAR you are a "certifiable old fart". The handle fits more than half of us here, so does the year bike.

Got mine in July of 02. Going on a 100k later it still performs like it did new. They would have to make some vast improvements to get me to change but I would still keep this one. :D

Great Minds Think Alike! Same here, got mine in September 2002 and I can't think of any reason to part with My Miss Lucy Liu!

Same rider for all three bikes?

I believe the 2003 thing vs the newer cuz of the increasing portliness factor...but 2007 that much faster than 2006? I don't believe it.

'Course I know guys on this and the other board that can take a Goldwing and run it faster on the curves than some of the '03 Owners.

:)

Wheatie, did you note the 2006 was an AE model? Yes, the rider was the same; but, the 2006 was an automatic shifter FJR.

Heck, beemer, surely everyone already knew the '03s were faster as well as better looking, just like their owners. And we make better martinis too.

You know, we should probably set up a business selling autographs to those folks who bought later models.

squeezer, the MCN article is really interesting; I've been going over it line by line. Remember last month's H-D V-Rod thread?

2002 VRSC: [email protected] seconds; [email protected] seconds; 0-1/[email protected] seconds; 0-1/4 miles per [email protected]; damn fast!

Thanks for link Dale, your data was posted on FJR Forum before I joined (thanks to Skooty). Very interesting report, Warchild!

Besides....you guys get to ride "Classic FJRs", and Rogdebs' is a beautiful red! :clapping:

Uhm....does that mean that someone who installs an '03 engine in their '04 or '05 chassis now has a certifiable sleeper?

It isn;t enough of a difference to be noticed, unless you asre running at the track . . .

Yup, the Gen-II runs slower due to that extra cog in the rear end and a few extra pounds for heat control and linked brakes and a slight tweak in the ECU for emission controls . . .

Having said that, unless you run WOT all the time, it means nada.

2007 FJR: [email protected] seconds; [email protected] seconds; 0-1/4 [email protected] seconds; 0-1/4 mile miles per [email protected]
So all that work I did to my 2008 FJR just barely got it faster than a 2003 FJR :(

UselesPickles: [email protected] seconds; [email protected] seconds; 0-1/4 mile*@10.568 seconds; 0-1/4 mile miles per hour*@130.75

*1/4 mile time/speed is "corrected", as I assume the magazine numbers are.

I'm sure you can pick up a used 2003 around here.

And, if it is indeed a sleeper, is the performance in the engine or the ECU? It is very common for a new model line to have 'introductory horsepower'. Some time ago I looked into the cams and the '03 -'04 cams were the same P/N. HP improvements could simply come from advancing the cam timing, spark timing or changing head gasket thickness for a bit more compression (though compression specs are listed to be the same).
