Anyone have 2004 Frontier Supercharged Pick Up?

I have the non-Supercharged version....Great truck but it dies out after 70MPH...

I just wanted to get your opinion on the supercharger.

I really wanted a supercharger, but when I got my truck but I just couldn't swing the extra $2000.

Does the supercharged model stop accelerating at 98MPH like mine does?

In your opnion is the supercharger really worth it?

Good thing I have the FJR for my speed needs.

Thanks,

Jeff

Red flag topic to Radman

Yes, superchargers are always worth it -- with a properly engineered system. Compression, timing, fuel curves, mechanical connections, plumbing, cooling, ECU all have to be modified, else you will discover the holed piston and/or rod through the block.

In your case the supercharger has been engineered by the factory. IMO, forgetabout retrofitting, trade for a factory system. If you have way too much time and money, refer to the afore mentioned list of items and dig in.

If you are looking for performance superchargers are -- Super.

Will it stop accelerating after 98 mph depends on gearing and speed limiter set by the factory. You are trying to force a large, hardly aerodynamic shape through the air. Have you seen all the articles about truck roll-overs

Blowers are great. Everyone should have one. A freeway full of soccermoms on the cell with the blower at full boost just makes me green with envy. Or something.

Thanks for your opnion, you just saved me big$$$$....I was thinking of a retro fit.....

Forgetaboutit!!

Maybe my next truck.......but of course I will need a hybred with a supercharger the way Gas prices are going..

I wish more diesel trucks had the (oh i can't think of the name of them) they are like a step design turbo charger which basically eliminate turbo drag off of idle... Instead of them not being really usefull until they totally spin up.

Modern turbo diesels hardly have any turbo lag anymore. I drive a Volvo S40 2.0 turbo diesel for a car, and it's a hoot. No lag, and it's pretty fast. 0-60 in 9.8 secs. Of course a normal car doesn't have the aerodynamics of a brick. Too bad those trucks are WAY too expensive here though. ****, for the price of my baby volvo here, I could buy the Charger Daytona R/T in the States. (I know, not a truck) Can't have it all. At least I get to play in the Alps regularly.

Quick website that shows a variable geometry turbocharger that was used on this project. No I don't have a lot of delay off idle in my truck on normal acceleration but if I punch it as if I want to race someone the diesel doesn't react like a gas truck... Not that I should be drag racing by $40,000 7000lbs truck but hey...
