2006 PDP Is Going To Happen!

Holy shit, I've just learned that Yamaha is, in fact, going to continue with this silly-ass PDP program for the 2006 FJR model year!!! :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry:

This for both the new 2006 FJR, and the new Electric-Shift FJR1300.

Doesn't it seem odd that it doesn't mention PDP on the Yamamama website and it just says

I was in my Yammy dealer today, And they said the 06 FJR with electric shift will be silver and the regular will be cobalt.

Not ME ! Not right now even though I want to soooo badly, my fiftieth birthday isn't 'til next March and I need to see just how this new bike is working out for you guys.

I'm only going to get one more chance to buy a nice bike so I have to be sure this is THE one.

My reason for being in question about it is the same as everyone else. I see all the changes and wonder if there won't be some serious bugs that need to be worked out first.

I certainly don't want my paranoia to influence anyone else's decision but I because of my personal situation I must sit on the sidelines and watch for a little while longer.

Is this a BIG mistake being that some dealers will be starting up with killer deals right now? I really don't know but in consideration of my family's needs I have to look and listen to you guys for guidance to help me decide when the time is right.

So who's it going to be ...come on now speak up! :clap:

It's a wife, kids, and money thing... there just isn't enough of the latter to cover all the needs of the previous and buy myself more than one expensive toy.

2006 FJR 1300AE looks like a great bike to add to my stable. So, took the plunge and called my dealer today and put one on order. Really looking forward to improvements(??TBD) on it over the 2004/2005 models

RogerB - I understand your concerns, as I have always avoided a first model year vehicle, car or bike. But consider, 95% of the FJR remains the same.

IMHO, Life is short, you could drop dead tomorrow, and waiting 1.5 years or more when you could start enjoying it now is not the best strategy, and downright silly.

CARPE DIEM!!! Seize the day!

Make the next year and half one of the most fun of your life in terms of motorcycling, instead of one of the most stressful.

Don't have money to burn but with my lifestyle changes I can spend my money on things that make my life more serene rather than disasturous.

WHOA there brother!! You're only going to be 50 and this is your last chance for a new bike? I got my FJR at 65 and I'm hoping to wear it out and get another before I kick the bucket, cash in my chips, push up daisies, buy the farm, assume room temperature, or whatever term you use for graduation to the hereafter.

Well, considering I only have 4500 miles on my 05, I'm not really to eager to jump to the 06... I'll wait for reports from those who do buy it... Maybe then I'll sell my 05 for a good price

I am holding the actual docs from Yamaha the actual amount is $2500 according to my dealship sales bulletin dated 09-28-2005 however fyi, my rep sez, less than 500 available only 2 per dealer max I am sure they are gone already! :bigeyes:

Agreed. It seems like the PDP system broke down last year with a lot of dealers ordering extra FJRs in employee names and getting them in stock, some of them offered on the floor before the true 'waiters' got their bikes. Totally unfair.

Having said that, if you are trying to get the best deal, I still think it is wise to go with the PDP with the top dealers offering discounts up front: Sunnyside, D&H, and Texarkana SportCenter as examples.

If you elect to buy from a dealer that has one on the floor during the 'early' deliveries, you'll likely pay a grand or two more than if you lock in your price with the dealers that are actually playing by the rules.

(My $.02, FWIW, could be totally wrong, YMMV.) Good luck, newbies!
