BAGGER

I need more seat time on the FJR before I draw any conclusions. I can tell you my butt hurt worse after 200 miles on the FJR than it did after 10K miles on the Wing. Guess I have gotten soft.

I started tinkering and lifted the tank and took some photos of the new heat sheild under it and how to get to the battery and added them to the gallery.

I never saw the old heat shield, but this one is not attached to the tank, and is instead on the frame. It looks like there is an air space between the tank and the shield too. I can tell you it works for sure. The tank doesn't get hot at all.

I'm gonna buy one of those shieds once my local dealer can figure out the part number and cost...
I was told that they reshaped the bottom of the tank. I don't know if this new shield will work with the older tanks or not.

I think what really helps it is that there is an air gap between the shield and the tank, which prevents direct heat transfer to the tank.

The vents by the headlights are interesting. It looks like they feed to the middle of the fairing in the center just in front the handlebars. Part of the anti buffeting?

Interesting that they split the passenger footpeg and muffler bracket into two pieces now.

Great pics! 91 in Ft. Worth!! Ouch, and only mid April. Brutal days of summer to come. How about pictures of the rear end?

Here are a few shots of mine on delivery day, the Bandit is still with me, the Laverda is with a new owner.

The FJR is very much a modern version of the Laverda RGS, without the fussy electrics, more power, better brakes.....better everything...except for the paint, the RGS had some dang nice paint.

I noticed that bike whistles around 30-40mph, pretty loudly. Can even hear it with ear plugs. Seems like it is a wind whistle from the front somewhere.

Also noticed both headlights are on with low beam. I though the 01-05 models only had one headlight on low beam.

Hey....Fred I see you're keeping busy while your wife is away.... :detect:
