Later in the day they brought out a couple more I didn't get pics of, I " think " one was another R1, it was another yellow paint scheme anyway, hopefully another rider took a pic. We were ready to roll on the group ride about that time.

Looks like there was no R1-LE.... or was there?  :(
Superbikeplanet.com answered my question:

ACK, I can't understand why someone would butcher up a R1 like this..... with that hideous rear wheel, it's got to handle like a PIG!

And worse than that... CHROMED brake disks?!! WTF?!

Ewww. I mean, um, never mind, I have no idea WTF they're thinking. I was going to make a smart-ass comment, but, to be honest, it just doesn't deserve it. I mean, why would someone take a perfectly good CBR1000XX rear tire and put it on an R1??

Yup! One of the guys from their shop said they have only tuned that bike to 240 HP. They said it didn't ride all that bad (they rode it to Alice's), but you have to remember it has a 10" longer swing arm, so it will not corner like a stock R-1.

I'd guess it's waaaay fun when you trigger the Nitrous (notice the red anodized bottle in front of the rear tire).

That would probably explain the tire choice, too.

BTW, the new FZ-1 is waaay kewel (except for the designers muffler "look")! With the new frame it really looks like an FJR w/o fairings and bags. One of the gaggle of lookers said that he didn't really like the engine hanging out there unprotected. I had to laugh a little....like all of that plastic is really protecting the engines on the sportbikes!

I'm hoping alot of FZ-1 guys "trade up". Then the "glut" of used FZ-1's might drive the price down, and....
