I've read about the connector that can be disconnected on the FJR to eliminate the auto retract windshield feature. Has anyone tried this mod on a 2007? Is it the same procedure?

Should be... I don't think there's any differences between the 06 and the 07 except for color.....

I tried on my 07 tonight & I could not find the 2 wire conn. were the pics show it. They show it under gages on right. I think it is in front of gages but I don't know how to get the front, top cowl off.

The [lug on the 07 should be directly below the gauge cluster. You should be able to see it with the inner panels on. You may need to remove the top right panel to reach it, unless you have skinny hands.

Did this on my '07 yesterday. The clip you're looking for has two red wires leading into it from the bottom. The photos on FJRTech.com https://www.fjrtech.com/getdbitem.cfm?item=12 are on a Gen I. There's a clip on the Gen II similar in size to the one shown in those photos. You want the other, smaller one.

Use the access panel under the windshield to get to it on some models. Some 06/07's have reported that it's easier that way. However, about the time we started using it as the "new standard" a few 06/07 riders reported that theirs was easier to reach in the classic location. End result? Check whichever is easier for you to access first. Try the other if you don't see it through the first check. In many cases, the jumper is tucked into the wiring harness, so look closer than just a surface scan no matter whick access location you try.

Word of caution, place electrical tape over both ends of the disconnected plug. Bad things happen to the windshield drive unit if it get shorted out. Don't ask how I know this!!
