I'm sure if I just searched I'd find that someone's already mentioned this, but I've been sitting here rather pissed off all day that Yamaha isn't bringing the new XT660 to the US. I'm actively shopping for a second bike and the KLR650 is looking mighty fine (I really want to do the Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route. Look it up...). I just cringe that I have to be brand dis-loyal to get what I want! Here's the link: https://www.yamaha-motor-europe.com/product...ture/xt660z.jsp Those Euro-trash types get all the good bikes...

I just sent a letter to the USA YMC stating that we need that XT 660 here. I came up with good arguments...I am sure you could too. Write a letter to them. You can find their address on their site. My only complaint about that bike is that it's 403 pounds instead of 360. 360 would be better. Lighter than the KLR would be better too. It looks like it has better ground clearance though.

Good advice. Kawasaki was successfully lobbied to get the Versys over here, let's see if Yamaha will listen to its buying public as well! As an aside, the XT660 in Khaki just really does it for me. Yeah, it does look good in the Rally motif too (don't like it in black), but it looks muscular and sturdy in khaki:

I was talking to a dealer here in the GWN and he said at his upcoming dealer meeting Yamaha Canada was going to talk about DS bikes that may be available in 2008.........I dunno.

I would be first in line. Been a long time since Yamaha has had much to offer in the dual sport market. The XT225 is a great little bike but something in the 600cc+ class would be welcome indeed.

This a very cool bike - I hope Yamaha brings it stateside. If they think there is market for 250cc SM bikes, surely there is a market for this.

There's a couple of threads over at ST.n on this bike as well. Looks like a lot of preliminary interest for the machine. Hell, I might even trade the DL in on one IF THEY BROUGHT IT STATESIDE. Hint, hint...

Email being composed.

Where are you going to send the email? I couldn't find an email address to send it to.

Ya know that thing would probably do well here. Better I'd say than they are gonna do with those $6,000 250cc supermotos. TH
