I own a 2009 FJR with just under 10,000 miles. (yes I need to ride more) Getting ready for season. With the years and mileage not sure what to get done besides oil change this year before season starts in NW Pennsylvania... Appreciate any thoughts and suggestions..

Have you owned it since new?

What have you done to it since you have owned it, at what mileage, and when?

It's an eight year old bike.

I'd change air filter, coolant, clutch & brake fluids,

oil and final drive oil.

Check brake pads for wear.

Check tires for age and wear.

Clean and lube clutch and brake levers.

Remove, flush and refill fork oil.

Check that all fasteners are present and

properly tightened.

Make sure all lights are working.

Lube the windshield mechanism.

Attend a tech day to get your valves checked

and a TBS. There's a great one scheduled

for early June in the Niagara area.

If everything checks out now, you should

be able to get through the year without any

additional down time.

Good luck, and ride MORE.

P.S. I'm in central PA in case you need help

with any of the above.

Plus:

spark plug replacement:

final drive gear, shaft & universal clean and lube;

ground spider (all 8!!) inspection and electrical goop;

electrical connector inspection;

clean & lube rear brake & shifter levers;

use diags to actuate your ABS.

they tell all!

just on point in more... when you change your brake fluids, it's mandatory to operating the ABS, if you have the yamaha shunt with, and if not, make a classic first purge. Then do some miles by running the abs and re do a purge.
aims is to renew Lockheed present in the ABS (which is the most fragile part of the braking system)
