2009 Tournament of Roses Parade Float Viewing

Early this morning me, my wife, and youngest daughter went to Pasadena and viewed the parade floats on display. It was cool, foggy, and crowded. We do this about every dozen years or so.

I went to the parade and the "after viewing" last year. The "event" is fantastic but there's nothing like being able to walk next to the floats and see the incredible detail...and the whimsy you can't see while sitting in the stands, 500' away.

As an aside, when I do go down and attend the parade, I always visit the warehouses in which the floats are being decorated. It's amazing to see the workers hanging from cables or 2-3 stories high on scaffolding while applying flower petals "one-at-a-time" or gluing different colors of seeds to create a background or a map. Fascinating!

I'm not a fan of parades, but that is one I wouldn't mind seeing, (in person), sometime.
