I've been following the discussions about the 2013 model and availability of different ECU maps. Yamaha previously updated FJR technology to design the Super Tenere and this is a feature of the Tenere that now seems to have come back to the FJR. I don't know if anybody feels whether there is more to unleash, or is willing to tinker with their FJR, but we've learned that a simple mod provides an additional map for the Tenere.
Popping the connector off the bottom of the clutch lever housing and inserting a piece of wire or fuse provides the Tenere with much better engine response at less than mid throttle in the first several gears. Going back to stock is simply pulling the jumper and reconnecting the switch. Of course, with the jumper in, there is no clutch safety, so the bike will start if you do not have the clutch lever pulled.
Just a thought that somebody might like to check into....
