With the 2013 season GP season just a few months away I thought that having a thread that was dedicated to all things GP would make it easy to have all race info in place. To start things off who do you predict to be in the top three for GP in 2013?

If he stays healthy, I see Pedrosa making another run for the top, and could potentially grab his first title. Lorenzo will be in the hunt again, and the return of Rossi to Yamaha is actually a wildcard to me...Crutchlow will bag his first victory, Spies will be the best of the "satellite" machines and Hayden will again have moments of brilliance early on, and in the rain, but will continue to finish mid-pack...The CRTs will be closer to the satellite bikes, but I don't see anyone finishing higher than 7th in any race. I'm not familiar enough with the rookies to know how they will affect the races, but I don't see another Stoner coming up in the ranks...

1. Pedrosa

2. Lorenzo

3. Rossi

4. Dovi

I could see Rossi and Dovi reversing positions as well...

Ben Spies, after a long recovery from an early season injury from a crash in qualifying, will finally find himself in the running for a podium position when his engine will suffer catastrophic failure leaving him on the side of the track once again.

C'mon, the Duc can't be any more reliable than the Yamaha, right?

Funny that Lorenzo's Yamaha was always bulletproof but Spies' bike had issues. Makes you wonder...

I voted for Pedrosa because of how fast he was at the end of last year. It looked like he and Honda figured it all out and were damn near invincible. I hope Lorenzo wins it again, or even Rossi. I wonder if Simoncelli's death took more out of Rossi than he realizes. Rossi has accomplished pretty much eveything a rider could hope to so how much will he risk trying to beat some very young, very good competition?

Marquez could be a force for sure, but the big bikes in tough race conditions can be beasts, even with the controls. He's done well in testing but testing ain't racing.

Geek, I wouldn't disagree with your rankings, maybe throw Marquez in there somewhere. I like Crutchlow, he's a competitor for sure but he needs to keep it upright this year. Hope he has a good year.

I am really anxious to see what Spies can do. Last year was a disappointing surprise all the way around for him and Yamaha.

Lots of good questions next year that can only be solved by the racing, hope it's a good year. I've been to Indy and Laguna, I'm going to Austin this year.

Hard to say so early on before testing really begins, but if everyone stays healthy this is how I see it. I think Marquez will be in there and as long as he can keep from getting penalized his results will garner him 4th, maybe even 3rd, in the Championship.

So, my guess would be:

1. Lorenzo - Hard to bet against him. He's got the Yamaha dialed in.

2. Rossi - I think Rossi still has it in him. If he can come out strong in Qatar.....watch out!

3. Pedrosa - He'll be another one of the talented riders to never win a GP Championship

4. Marquez - He's a quick learner and will impress everyone.

The rest is a crapshoot.

It will be fun to watch Ben on the Duc, as well as Iannone and Dovi. There is so much crap circulating about the Duc, and how hard it is to ride..........that adding these 3 riders to the mix will produce some incredible data in that regard. The first 3 races will probably have them on virtually the same bike as last year so this will be a good indication.

Can't wait for the season to start.

My prediction: I'll watch the first 2-3 laps, f/f the DVR and watch the last lap, then go back to the football game. It's kind of a Sunday ritual for me. At least the beer will be good.

I would like to see a Yamaha win the 2013 championship, however it seems the Hondas are stronger. I would think we would have a good look by the second race at COTA in April.

I understand that Attactperformance is going to do a tire test next month with their CRT bike. Anyone know of this date. I would like to ride over and watch a few laps.

Attaches is lifted from the Colin Edwards forum. Looks like he took a few laps on a R6 this week at COTA.

So CE took the 1st laps around COTA on a R6 yesterday. Some of you may know Mike Myers, who runs the bootcamp, but he got to make a few runs around as well. I asked him what he thought and this was his input:

I think the racing will be amazing. There are several good places to pass/ stuff someone. Turn one is silly. The hill is way steep n all you see is blue sky (like the hill towards the corkscrew) coming up to it. You have to be careful to not let someone stuff you up the inside but if they do I think you will out drive them to run two that is critical for the S's. There is a fast left downhill off camber kink that will be fun to watch. Crash central there I think. Tricky.
Back straight on stock R6 155mph to 1 st gear left then complicated set of rights to the stadium. Last corner reminds me of the last corner at Laguna.
It's going to be epic.

I am stoked and ready for April to get here!!!!!!

Thanks for that oldmantwo. Now I'm even more giddy. Crash central huh? Guess I know where I'll be heading with my General Admission pass then!

I think Lorenzo is still the one to beat. Can't stand him, but got to give him his due.

I still think as long as Alberto Puig is associated with Pedrosa he will not win the title. Too much of a head case. If Rossi is comeptitive on the Yamaha, he will f*ck with Pedrosa's head something fierce. We might even see Honda finally tell Puig to pack sand and get out of the garage. But the fact still remains, Pedrosa has had one of the best rides in MotoGP and has not been able to seal the deal. If he can't this year he never will. I look for Dorna to add a minimum wieght to INCLUDE the rider next year and the wiil screw the light wieght riders.

I hope Ducati can make a better run now that Audi owns them and the Rossi experiment is over. I think Rossi had some great ideas, but the team manager (forgot his name - the one in the wheel chair) was too head strong to listen and make the necessary changes. I think Hayden has done a very good job trying to ride a bike that no one other than Stoner could ride.

Going to be an interesting season with Dorna running both the WSBK and MotoGP series now. I think the CRT experiment is far from over. Especially since Dorna declined Suzuki's application to return in 2014 as a factory. They told them to team up with and existing CRT team. https://superbikeplanet.com/2013/Jan/13012299.htm

For me he has no personality
You must know him better than I do.
Probably not. Just going from what I see when he is interviewed. Not much personality there. Definitley not like a Colin Edwards, Carl Fogarty, Aaron Slight, Simon Crafar, Randy Mamola Nicky Hayden, Kenny Roberts JR, Rossi, Stoner or any of the other racers.

Lorenzo is a great racer, just doesn't show the passion. Maybe it's a spanish thing, who knows...

I'm going with Rossi cuz i already bought all the swag and stuff....i also find it funny that spies had so many mechanical problems...i was raised in Yerup and wouldnt be all too surprised it had something to do with his ham fisted merkin help...no wonder we race in circles here...i am so stoked to have F1 back AND MotoGP on the rise HERE ! I gotta meet up with Oldman2 , cant be that many other FJR's in Helotes...i may have seen you as i turned around a couple weeks ago, i had Yoko on the back...i'm on the blue one with handicapped plates and bald tires...i'm also going to Austin MotoGP and its my first...i am soooooo excited too ! IOM TT is next year....somehow...maybe...i hope....Gonna be a great season ! Lorenzo, Pedrobot...i think he's cute like a little moto elf...Ebows, Marquez, Nicki, some wildcard hopefuls too...i hope the minimum weight thing does not affect the riders so much...i like to delude myself into thinking there are some human accomplishments in sport not predicated by size so much...good prior breeding not withstanding, i still go for the underdog...who is usually under huge and must use more of the thing that actually elevates our species...a brain, not even a bigger brain...i worked with many more small asian phd's than huge samoan phd's as a percentage , and if it was all about size elephants and whales should be runnin things....sorry to digress....must be time for a beta blocker...Go Rossi !!!

I think if Rossi can fall back in his winning ways and adapt right back to the Yamaha he can win this. I would like to see him win it again.....he is not getting any younger for this sport. I wish Ben could win at least one title in MGP, but a bad year like this past one can really mess up a guys career.

Myself and a few other riders (GW, BMWs, C-14) meet up under the Oak tree at the Shell in Helotes every couple of weeks. We usually do a hill country ride. Like to have you ride with us.

I know he took the high road when he and Rossi were teammates and Rossi was playing head games with him. He also was a class act when Simoncelli was killed. Lorenzo was one of Simoncelli's worst critics and had spoken out against his aggressive maneuvers on several occasions. Yet when he attended the funeral, he wrote, "I am sorry we quarreled". When others said Sic had gotten what he deserved, he did not and spoke out for him. He is at least a "nice guy".

Pretesting started this week and the Yamaha boys are looking good. Lorenzo is 2nd and Rossi is 4th. What a difference a year makes.
