Hi All,

I know this has been discussed before, but I am asking for a quick answer without the banter on color or fender matching.

Other than the cruise control max set difference, anything different on the 14 non ES from the 13. Basically I can get a brand new 13 for about $2000 less than a brand new 14. I realize the 14 ES is then even more.

14ES for $16,500

14 A for $15,500

13 A for $13,300

Any reason not to save the $2200?

Thanks

If it's all been discussed before, Why go through it again???? Banter, Banter and more Banter

Thanks all. That is what I thought. Buy the 13 and move the farkles from my 06 as most should swap.

Not too cold, been riding my V Strom lately. Just did an IBA 50CC on the Strom in fact.

Happy New Year

I saw one '13 for 11,900 not long ago. When you can get essentially the same bike for 2-3000 (or more) dollars less, why waste the money to get the newest and latest color? Seems like a no-brainer to me. But then again, I have to struggle for every nickel... unlike many on this forum who could easily buy 3 new FJR's and not break a sweat. What I look at is, what's it gonna be worth in 5-7 years when I sell it? How much money will I lose? Case in point, my 05 cost me 6500 3 1/2 years ago. I might lose about 2k on it if I sold it today, and no doubt not a whole lot more if I kept it another 4 years. The biggest cost of owning an FJR for most guys is depreciation. That's why I chose an older one. For those of us who would agree that money doesn't grow on trees, older is indeed, better. My FJR had less than 4k miles on it when I bought it. It was essentially a new bike for 6500 bucks.

Just my .02 worth.

Put at least one more 50CC on the 06 Howard and save some cash until next year. Also, get that wiring buttoned up and go riding with Brenda and me tomorrow. Happy New Year!

Gary, you and I think alike. I bought my 06 in 2008 with 14K on the clock for $8900. Bought my 07 VStrom in 10 all farkled out for $5000 with 7K on it. By the time I sell they dont cost me much. That is why the 13 was appealing. Also why I have 5 bikes as they don't need to be new if not worth expense.

Not even sure I need to trade the 06 for the 13 or 14 byt sometime want wins over need.

Happy New Year.

I had the same decision a couple of months ago and it was a no-brainer, especially since I didn't care about the CC limit and Candy Apple Red is not my favorite motorcycle color. No regrets!

Glad to see you think with your wallet. Good for you. Here's a thought. Not a year goes by that I don't see the most unbelievable steal of a deal on this forum. The forum is great at alerting the rest of us when things pop up for sale at UNBELIEVABLE prices. If you want to make the deal of a lifetime, it's easy enough to do if you get yourself into a position where you can pull the trigger at a moment's notice when ya see these deals. They tend to happen during the winter months. If you can get yourself preapproved for a loan or just do what cha gotta do to be prepared, there's no doubt in my mind you can score a '13 for a seriously low price. You may need to to do a fly and ride, and may have to chose the timing carefully to avoid rotten weather, but it's doable.

Just a thought.

Gary

Why not post to buy someone's 2013 for a great deal, so they can pursue the 2014. I have the 2013 and love it. you'd have to ask yourself is a color change, and suspension adjustment worth it? I'm glad I'm colorblind

For me the answer was yes. The '13 was not enough for me to trade up from my '08AE, especially since I like the auto clutch. However, the extras on the '14ES tipped the scale for me...upside down KYB front forks, adjustable front and rear suspension to acomodate one up or two up on the the fly, cruise that sets up to 100mph and the red color!
