Meh...Wouldn't be the first time that's happened.JEEZUS - that picture paints a very questionable light on the type of people that own an FJR//// :help:
My local dealer just got a '14 A model in, so I bopped over to look at it.
The pictures do not do it justice.
Oddly, it is very similar in color to my '05 Vulcan, and I describe the Vulcan's color as "maroon." However, the FJR appears a half-shade lighter, and it doesn't strike me as maroon.
Red isn't my favorite color, but this is a red I can live with.
February is when I'm trading in my Vulcan for a '14 ES model. The time will not pass quickly enough.
My dealer says that the ES model will not be available until November.Wow, wasn't quite expecting them to show up till November. Glad to hear the flood gates have opened.
Where did you find the '14...inquiring minds need to know!<snip> My local dealer just got a '14 A model in, so I bopped over to look at it.

I can help ya ID a couple fellers, but I forget names so fast, it's embarrassing. From the left, that's Brandon and Kathleen, my daughter and future son-in-law. Not forum members, obviously. Then, just behind Kathleen, that's Tony, alias 101stpathfinder. That's me in the blue Yammie shirt. Over on the right, that's Jim in the green with Sharon his wife in the pink. Jim is Dave Cook's brother (alias forum member FJRScrewball who passed away this summer). From that point, my brain's a bit foggy. I think I know all the names, but for fear of making a mistake, I'll quit while I'm ahead. Please WARN us before posting something like that. Wow...what sort of freak convention is that?
Also, could you place forum handles with photos, so we know who tostay away fromchat with next time at EOM?
I see you Florida guys finally got yourselves together for a meet!!
Well, I'd imagine there are quite a few Gen3 early adopters that are wishing they had waited a year for the red model.Eh. Never been a fan of red and I'm leary of any 1st year 'updates'.
As always, so far, Yamaha only offers one color for a given model year here in the States.Looking at the video on the Yamaha site...well....I see more burnt orange in the sunlight than red. I would say that indoors, it probably does appear more red.
Is this the only color offered for the 14 ES? I guess I am also in the minority, but I don't like the color in the sunshine. I would rather have more red in the paint than the orange metallic I saw in the video.
Best case....I would rather have black...like my 08. Everyone knows that black is the only legitimate color for a motorcycle.
Note: I tried to look away from that nice belly on that moto-babe with Greg, but I couldn't. Daaaummm.
Absolutely.... and when you see it in the dealer, it'll look different once outside or in your own garage.Joe - I wouldn't take what you see on the computer screen or videos as a very good rep of the actual color....
Metal flake paint can be hard to judge, I would wait until you see it in person....
