The front turn signals on my new 2015 FJR1300ES are almost invisible! I like the idea of getting away from the huge blobs hanging out the sides of the bike but these are almost invisible! What were they thinking!?

Can anyone explain why this ended up in the "Never-Ending, Pointless..." forum when I posted it in "FJR Specific"?

Depends on the viewing angle. Stand away from the bike and have another look.
I did that. Even with the bike in a dark garage and looking from 20 feet away out in the sun, the lights are pretty feeble. This came up because my wife was riding ahead of me, looked back and could barely see the signal. The rear ones show up pretty well.

I cannot and will not speak for the admins but my first guess would be that it fits the Pointless part of this section nicely.

My '15 (front) turn signals are plenty bright and noticeable. The front running lights are somewhat low key but when the turn signal is activated they get Very Bright.

I will echo what AlleyCat said, "Try a different viewing angle"

So the question is, are your turn signals weaker than the other FJRs because your bike has an issue ? Or are you just thinking that yours seem weak based on past experience ?

That's based on comparing to my wife's '07 K1200GT and my car. Bike goes in for 600 mile service next week so will compare with others there.

Is it considered pointless to question operation of the FJR? Sounds like a BMW forum.

Taking a step back...

Are you questioning the performance of YOUR turn signals or the performance of the Gen3 turn signals in general?

If you are concerned about the proper operation of YOUR bike, then we should be working diligently to assist you. This is after all a major safety component. Is there another Gen3 anywhere close to you so you can compare directly? That would be the best route.

If, as I believed, you are not happy with Gen3 turn signals in general, that is pretty pointless. These LEDs are very bright and much more noticeable to me than the incandescent bulbs of the previous generations. I have been very impressed with the brightness of the front turn signals on my '15.

By all means if you have a concern regarding safety or function with your FJR, search, post, ask. It did seem that you were questioning the Gen3 signals as a group. There are I believe, legal requirements for visibility of such things and Mama Yamaha is not going to ignore that.

The first time I saw my Gen3 front turn signals I remember thinking they appeared weak. But this was standing tall right up front the bike. As I back away from the bike and looked at them from another motorist's point of view, they look bright and perfectly fine to me. You said that you looked at them from 20 feet away.... other than viewing them from a wide angle, they should be fine unless you have some kind of issue going on. As Redfish Hunter said, there are legal requirements for such components of motor vehicles.

A direct comparison with another Gen3 should quickly give you an answer....

My 2015 turn signals shine pretty brightly. Check that all your LEDs are still firing.

I can see mine reflected from storefront windows even in bright sunlight. For that matter, I can see them reflected in: rear bumper of the car in front at a stoplight; puddles in the road when slowing for a turn; nearby cars on the freeway when changing lanes at night; and they light up my girlfriend's garage when I pull in no matter whether it's day or night.

Let me add something here that is not related to the blinkers, but is related to the relocation of the post. Remember that NEPRT posts are not, Never Ending, AND Pointless, AND Recurring. They are Never Ending, OR Pointless, OR Recurring.

What does this mean to you, OP? Well, it means that most threads with no difinitive answer is probably Never Ending, not exclusively Pointless, but possibly Recurring.

Who cares anyway? This area gets as many or more hits than any other.

I don't know anyone that cares about a post count.
