I don't know how much I have...but I know what they're worth. Each one of us has a little part to play in this FJRForum. I know mine is NOT to post "how to's" with photos...although that might provide some humour...it may not provide much else...so I try to learn stuff from you smart guys, and *** at my friends.

Thanks Wheatie...I know how to use English. I just didn't catch that. Haha...I'm in an instructor update class, and I'm bored senseless. Therefore, I am making good use of my time, shopping for boats, reading the Forum, posting on the Forum and teasing Mcatrophy. This all from my phone, while I try to look either concerned, like it's work, or like I'm paying attention.

So the question is, are your turn signals weaker than the other FJRs because your bike has an issue ? Or are you just thinking that yours seem weak based on past experience ?

That's based on comparing to my wife's '07 K1200GT and my car. Bike goes in for 600 mile service next week so will compare with others there.

Is it considered pointless to question operation of the FJR? Sounds like a BMW forum.

I was part of the i-bmw forum when I had my K1200GT and the only thing that would have been different is that most of those guys are engineers/machinists/airplane mechanics and would have done some sort of lumen test (after building the friggin tester from stuff laying around) and then verified that the blinkers meet DOT requirements, before dismissing the thread similarly.

So... I know this is NEPRT territory, but I'd like to offer up one possible reason the OP thinks his 3rd Gen signal lights are dim. It was aluded to briefly, but nobody took the idea and ran with it.

My theory is that the new LED forward signal lights on our 3rd Gens are far more directional than the old incandescent lamps with reflectors. So while the LED lights may appear dimmer from off-axis, they are probably just as bright, maybe brighter when viewed from the angle that someone looking head on at the bike from more than 50 yards (or meters for mcatrophy).

Sorry that I have not measured the lumens or done a triple blind survey of pedestrians to confirm that theory. I will leave that up to someone else to take on.

'Cept it's more difficult to convert metres [note the UK spelling] to furlongs. There are 22 yards per chain, but 20.1168 metres. So I generally prefer yards.

And you may well be right about the relative directionality of the LED lights compared with the incandescent. Piercingly bright if you look in line with them, but to the side or above or below, not so much.

Even though this one is in NEPRT, I kind of think we should be done making fun of the OP. He had a question and I do not remember anyone posing that question before. He got some answers, he got a lot of sarcasm, and he got to see the wrong side of several of our personalities.

I am going to wait to see what he learns Friday if he can look at another Gen3. I personally think it is just how he perceives the lights but if he has an actual problem we are all gonna feel like ********.

Actually, I kind of feel that way anyway.
