Haven't pulled the trigger just yet. Was considering the BMW 1000 XR, but am concerned about the reliability. The Versus 1000 LT looks like a nice bike but is just too ugly. At this point it will probably be the Tracer 900 GT.

First yr. Purchased 8/16.  No problems.  Took a 2 wk trip to UT and had a blast. With a Russel seat I can ride as long as I want. OEM bags and a Givi trunk. Upgraded suspension front and rear to Tractive components. Looking forward to the 2020 to give it a test ride for a possible upgrade. Or possibly upgrade the FJR to a new GS. Recently retired and am waiting to see how my riding plans pan out. The XR is the most fun I’ve had on a bike. Still puts a smile on my face every time I get on it.

Thanks st4gary. I also have an FZ 10 with performance mods for lunacy, but it's fuel range is terrible, so I was thinking that the XR could possibly pull double duty and replace both bikes. Looks promising...

NorthSouth,

I came from a 2014 FJRA and bought the 2019 Versys 1000. If you are only looking at pictures, go see the bike in person. I also thought about the Tracer 900, but the Versys is a better bike if you can negotiate a deal for one that is still on the floor. A bit more weight than the GT, but still 85 pounds less than the FJR. You also will appreciate the larger cases, ES suspension, useable rear rack, and far better wind protection than the GT. Go sit on one and you will see what I mean. Function over form and it really is a good looking machine when you compare it to other bikes in the class. It's a serious upgrade from the already excellent and well appointed 15-18 V1000. The ninja motor is also the only thing out there that has the power to weight ratio of the FJR, and the smooth inline power. Yes the 3 cylinder is an over achiever, but it's not the same thing as the 1000.

Regards,

I have looked pretty hard at the Versys. I am going to ride all 3 hopefully in a few weeks at Bike week. I agree it seems to have all of the up to date bells and whistles. How's the stock seat? The Tracer's look took some time to grow on me, so maybe the Versys will too. Thanks for the reply.

The seat is outstanding on the 2019 Versys 1000. Obviously a subjective thing and I had no problem with the stock seat on the 2014 FJR. I think the V1000 is a bit more comfy and has that nice ridge between the rider and passenger that offers nice support.
