Can somebody offer a comparison of air flow on the '16 ('14 & '15 have the same body work I think) compared to the Gen II? I've been riding an '11 for a few years and find the upward blast to be significant at interstate speeds. So much so, that my jacket/raingear gets blown up like a balloon. I could gain some weight for a tighter jacket fit, I guess. Frontal protection is adequate with a medium Cee Bailey. Windshield position doesn't seem to have much effect on the updraft.
I'll be selling the '11 in the next month or 2, so a new bike is likely. Just looking for some real info.

I had a 2007 prior to the 2014 and I did not notice the up draft you are experiencing. Are you a very tall person? I'm 5'10"

Here's my new 2016 FJR1300ES

(How do I rotate the pic?!)

This is the one that was mentioned being seen on the showroom floor in Anthem, Arizona, a little north of Phoenix. I went out there on Friday, May 28, saw it, and bought it. Both Chandler, the young man who met me, and Don Little, their general manager, were very nice and easy to work with.

Without even being asked, I was told that a sale was in progress and they were taking $3,000 off of list. Gulp! Do they know what they have? So the price to me was $14,990 and with all taxes (8.3%!) and charges the out-the-door price was $17,403.17. I am happy!

I did the Motorman break-in and arrived at my home garage/shop with 50 miles. Golly, I like this bike. I have owned four FJRs and they just keep getting better. I did an oil and filter change and found, which is so typical, that the factory had really tightened the drain plug much more than necessary. Worse yet, by far, they had cross-threaded the oil filter and it took me 4 hours and all of the tricks to finally get it off! But when it came out it brought the pipe-nipple adapter with it! I actually broke my vice off of my wooden workbench in trying to remove this pipe! After having two friends and an independent motorcycle shop also strike out in removing the pipe from the filter, I went back to MotoCity. I was told this is the second or third case they have seen of this and they were finally able to separate the units but it was obvious that the threads where the filter attached were toast. Low and behold, that part was out of stock and back-ordered. (Hmmm. I wonder if some dude is sabotaging the assembly line?!)

Bless their hearts, they found that some other Yamaha models use the same part and they took one from a showroom bike and gave it to me! What great customer service! They have created a real fan and supporter in me. Plus, as a new bike buyer, I get a 15% discount on parts and accessories from them! You Phoenix-area bikers, give MotoCity anthem a visit! I don't think you'll be disappointed.

You have to rotate the picture either before uploading to Photobucket or in Photobucket.

Curly Joe's filter was the same. It took three of us [Rich, George and myself] plotting on how to get the filter off without destroying something.

I was wondering if the serial numbers were close, that might help to Yamaha to fix the problem. My guess is they have a device that puts those filters on, not a installer.

Also makes me think that would be one good reason to have the 600 mile service done by a dealer. Never have but makes me think about it.

In shopping for a 16 model I found a dealer in Indiana (3 hours from me) advertising an A model for $13999 and ES for $15999. Dealer is in Westfield, just north of Indy. Anyone know if this is for real?
I sent them a quote request yesterday for an OTD price but have not heard back from them yet. Best price I'm getting in my home state of Illinois is $1000 off.
$15,999 for an ES matches the D&H price, so that's about as good as it gets. The $13,999 A model price is $600 less than D&H! The dealer cost for an A is estimated to be $13,858!? Maybe they pile on other charges for shipping and assembly?? There's nothing added to the D&H prices except tax and license if you are an AL resident.
I'm thinking they must be adding quit a bit for setup fees, shipping, etc. No one in the midwest is even close to that price. $15K for a A seems to be the going rate.

That bike looks great with the desert background! :)

$14,990 + $1,244.17 (8.3% tax) = $16,234.17. That leaves $1,169 unaccounted for. What else did they charge you for? Y.E.S., Shipping, assembly, etc? $14,990 is $1k less than the best price I've heard of and less that the estimate dealer cost for that model! That's one heck of a deal!!

Looks like he paid $16,069 + tax. That's pretty close to the D&H deal at $16,000 without the road trip or freight charge from Alabama.

Agreed. I was just curious how this dealer presented it starting out with a base price of $14,990.

Tags and title probably $300 - $400. Add in a dealer doc fee of $250, and set up fee of a couple hundred and there you go.

Yeah, I got sticker shock when I moved from Illinois to Arizona.

Illinois tags, $41.00 out the door.

Arizona tags $200.00+, OUCH!
