Just looking at the Canadian Tire Flyer for this week and Rotella is on sale for 25% off from the 9th to the 15th. Just thought I would share.

Any excuse to go to Canadian TIre. But, as we all know, synthetic oil is simply a waste of money.

OMG, sorry man... you're on your own with this statement. It's proven that synthetic is more resistant than regular oil. I don't know where you get this from. Synthetic is the way to go; especially in high rev motors.

Jesus, all I wanted to do was provide some info as I know that some of the inmates use it, not start another oil war. :^)

Ps - sorry to the admins. I must have screwed up when i posted it in Canada. I figured that i wasn't selling something and it was regional info. :(

Nothing you did Worney! It's watching the fish leaping out of the water to take the bait that provides all the humour!

(About $4 to $5 per lb Don)

Since oil doesn't wear out before it gets too dirty to leave in the crankcase, there really is little demonstrated benefit to using synthetic over dyno oil unless you operate in really cold climates. I don't. The bike gets parked when the daily temps approach freezing and it oinly comes out after a few rain showers wash all the salt off the roads.

I do use a motorcycle-specific oil blend from Castrol that has zinc, required for bikes that use the cam follower designs our rides have.

My oil gets changed every 3000 or so miles (actually it seems that the average is about 2500 miles, according to my service records). If I was running synthetic it would still be changed every 3000 or so miles, but it would cost me twice as much each time.
