Out to the shop this morning for the usual routine,...Start up/Gear up and go.... And during my turn around to exit the shop the steering felt really wierd. I stopped and put the side st down. Shure enough my streak of luck came to an abrupt end as i looked down to an almost worn out and now punctured rear BT 021. After getting over the initial shock and wondering how the world could do this to ME,...i realized that i had to get to work. Plug kit out from under seat/remove finish nail/rough up hole with supplied tool/install sticky pulg string/trim extra/and Air up tire.....perfect..

-In the interest of safety i'll prolly not exceed 80/90 mph till it's it's new tire time,.. 1000 k's or so

-my 10,000 kms(6000 miles) on the 021's have me ordering a new pair,...very impressed with them.

-Don

Edit; I did miss about a decade and a half,.... through the years of riding (life and kid stuff).

wish I had had your string of good fortune,

those plugs have worked for me. like you though I'm more cautious,

but they do seal and hold up. briefly to 120 for me; several times to 100.

I think I'll be on plug 4 or 5 next. Can't tell the difference in tire performance

I just had the same thing happen a couple months ago. After 25 years of riding and probably 150,000 miles (what is that in Km?) I had my first flat. Like you I noticed after I dropped off the centerstand in the garage getting ready to commute to work. Unlike you, I cut it real close with commute time and there was no time to plug so I took the truck instead.

Luckily that back tire was ready to be replaced anyway and I already had new tires sitting in the garage. I wonder how good those plugs hold if you try to maximize the life of a tire. I noticed that my very worn rear was awfully thin in the center and it seems like a plug wouldn't have much rubber left to grip onto. Hopefully I won't have to try it with a new tire because I'd hate to throw it away, yet I'd be worried about a blowout of the plug at 100mph.
