2730 poer cable

I’m thinking of making a power cable for my 2730 by splicing the power cable from the 110-volt setup. I notice the output is 12-18 volts DC, which the unit runs on when in the car. I’ve done this on other products (MP3, etc) without any problems. Sound OK? TIA Ian, Iowa

I noticed there is a cylindrical whatchmathingy on the 110 power (not poer)cable about 4" from the GPS plug. Is this some sort of magnetic field thing to reduce engine noise interference? Ian, Iowa
