Details; right. They're kinda sketchy as it's been a while.

Back on June 27th I left on a trip to ride out to see my gf in Vancouver, WA (Portland, OR area). I was going to ride no matter what so I thought I would try for a BB1500. I had posted up a request on the forum PNW area for a ride witness. N2osx responded and we arranged the date I'd be there and the approximate time. We exchanged mobile numbers so that I could text/call as I got closer.

I left the house at 6:14am for the fuel station. I think (I can't remember now), I left around 6:45am. With the time difference of 2hrs, I had to finish at 4:45pm the next day. The route was all interstate with a stop at a KOA in Wyoming for sleep. I had the KOA site reserved on the way out as a Kabin to save a little time on the BB ride.

Aside from the ride being painfully boring through NE, and WY..I remember thinking that I would freeze to death in UT/ID. I had packed a few warmer items, like one long-sleeve tshirt. I got to the KOA around 6pm and woke up at 10:30pm. I couldn't sleep anymore and decided to get up, get showered and back on the road. I don't remember what the temp was in WY but it wasn't horrible until I got into ID around 3am. I think I made 4 stops just to get warm. Have I mentioned this ride was the last week of June?? I didn't think it would get that cold. I think the lowest temp was 43, which should be too bad, but I had just one layer on under the mesh jacket. It was silly, but I know better now :)

The rest of the ride was a little entertaining. There wasn't much traffic through ID/OR and I wasn't hurried to make the deadline. My last stop before Vancouver I had sent a txt to N2osx and said when I thought I would be there. He and his wife met me at the fuel station and were there about a minute before I was. Initially the receipt at the pump didn't print, but the inside clerk gladly printed off a copy for me complete with the details I needed.

I was concerned about the receipts because I didn't get one after getting back on the road from KOA...I stopped at a truck stop to get an energy bar just to get a receipt...I packed it up. When I got home I realized that it didn't have a timestamp...but there wasn't much else I forgot to do. I have receipts for every fuel stop and food stop (when I separated the stops). I keep the reciepts on every trip anyway, so it wasn't difficult to get/remember/keep them. The paperwork to record the trip took a

I don't know that I'd try a BBG. I think I could have made this ride in 24hrs easily had I not made those extra stops to get warm. Also, I was not pressured to make this ride in the allotted time. I was making the ride out there anyway. If I did get the certificate, great. If not...oh well.

I think I'll follow the IBR from the sidelines...A) I don't have that much time off from work and B) that's just nucking futs. I'm happy to get this one. I might get a SS1000 next if I can find a trip I'm going on.

Be careful - Iron Butt rides were like tattoos and motorcycles for me. I got one under my belt, then it turned into an addiction. You might want to start saving up that vacation time ;)

Ever successful ride is an accomplishment, so a hearty congrats on your achievement!!

I don't like regular scavenger hunts. I don't like route planning and I can think of better things to do with 11 days :)

I could ride another one, maybe, if I go to wherever on the east cost that NAFO is held. I'll be riding back out to Portland next year, so maybe I'll do it in 24hrs...
