hard for me to believe I've made it 3years here on the forum.
Between
+that authority-figure skooterG closing my initial thread,
+the PC nature of this place with rules-a-plenty (jeezers, that's tough sometimes)
+the constant barbardment of posts on death and crashing! My goodness, -- never me seen so many old-fart-safety nazi's that love to talk about death and crashing ...and then proceed to stack-up much more often than the typical moto-bike rider.
-Where else can you find that but here on the FJR forum?
Oh, don't forget about all the technical stuff one can find here.
The bike is awesome! and that's much of the reason behind it's good following here. Bike likes to run over 6K on the rpm needle, and if you go to 5th gear you're well over triple digits on the other needle when she's happy. Anything less, there are a bunch of other bikes that do just as well. Me suggest you keep your girl happy by knocking the rev-limiter as much as possible.
++Open the atlas, throw a dart and this gal will effortlessly take you to your new-found destination at the pace of your choosing. For me, that has created some great long-weekend adventures. I owe my FJR some big thanks for all of that fun.++
She's fat, and heavy, but solid and really bullet proof. I've abused mine quite thoroughly and she still loves to run hard. How hard? Be perpared to bring you pink slip if you think your newer, shiny, late model bike can keep up with my ol' rust bucket. BTW -had the "tick" for over 60thousand miles now. Me might address that "tick" around 100K me thinks.
I've put a lot of gas and shitloads of tires through this thing. Even changed the oil a few times. A few valve adjusts and that's about it. Of course upgraded the suspension (RaceTech(front) and Ohlins(rear) and I'm quite happy with that, although it did take some effort, homework and adjustments to get it stiff enough for RenoJohn abuse.
Not sure how much longer I'll have the fat ol' gal. Most likely until her legs go straight out on the trail somewhere. Me guesses that will be quite a while. However, I've got the itch for a new bike and an FZ1 might find it's way into the stable for bike#4. *IF* that happens the FJR might be on the short list for a new home. Even though I typically run with no bags and very lean -she's still a bit heavy for my liking.
So, thanks to all the groovy people on the forum here who've made this some good fun. You know who you are. It is people that make any community, and this community has some really awesome folks. Good thing, as there are quite a few on the other side as well. Such is life, and if we were all the same, it'd be pretty boring.

Rode through the sierras to meet up with the FJR guyz in Morrow Bay(CLICKY) ...hit a lot of snow both ways.
