New story on the news today. The UK Govt. have been researching the dramatic increase in motorcycle deaths. They reckon we are 40 times more likely to die on the bike than in the car. A gizmo is currently under test that will not allow speeding in cars and the Govt. say it would save many motorcyclists if fitted to bikes.

The dramatic increase (they dont say how dramatic), is largely due to an increase in the popularity in general of biking and obviously the inexperience that comes with it. They also went on & on & on about the potential high speeds a bike was capable of.

My BS meter is reading extremely high levels of CRAP.

First create a Problem using a Media blitz. (Motorcyclists are dying, WE have to SAVE them)

Come out with some bureaucratic ******** Law, (Its for YOUR own Good)

And ram it down everyones throat, ( Can we say, 55 mph speed limits, Gun control in Canada, Global Warming, etc,etc..)

For some reason a stat that has stuck in my head is that you are 14 times more likely to be in an accident on a bike versus a car.
Its prob skewed statistics:

14 more likely to be involved in an accident and if in an accident 40% more likely to be fatal. or something to that effect.

I met a guy Yest. that had a 60 MPH T-bone with a car when the car pulled out in front of him. A squid most likely on a ninja. said he was wearing jeans and a T. was in a coma for 6 weeks. Even had pics of the wreck with the car still on fire.

+1 to Bearly Flying

The new device is prob a speed governor

Don....you forgot about when they talked about mandating seat belts so motorcyclists would get hurt flying off their bikes (you don't remember that winner?...or was that just here in Ontario?)

Aye, ride and you may die. Cage it and you'll live -- at least a while.

And dying in your beds many years from now,

would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that

they may take our lives, but they'll never take... our freedom!

Feejer gu bra!

If they install a governor on the bikes they would have to install the governor on EVERY other road used vehicle. Other vise I can just see the number of riders been rear ended sky rocketing. power is one of our greatest ability to escape the crash if used properly and accordingly.

That's awesome :fans:

I'm always amused that only the negative statistics about bikes are rammed down the publics' throats. They don't bother to mention that a motorcyclist is one half as likely to have a wreck in their cage when driving it.

People that get swim in the ocean are a lot more likely to get bit by a shark than those that only swim in pools. Close the oceans.
