Absolutely. That GM debacle actually set the market back. Diesels became extremely unpopular because GM made a horrible decision. Any coincidence that GM owns Subie? They'd better make it more reliable/smoother/cleaner than the TDI or CDI.

I think Toyota owns a bigger share of Subie than GM....I thought GM divested them. I know that Toyota just took over most of the factory space at their IN plant for more Toyo models anyway.

 
Around 1981 or 2 ,,,, 5 of us guys went from illinois to daytona in a VW rabbit deisel. That thing got 50 mpg then, guess it put out to much pollution. They quit making it.
