I have ridden the first 500 miles aboard the 2004 FJR. I have previously owned a 2005 zx-10r, 2001 zx-9, gsx-r 750, and two HD Wide glides. So, I have ridden a diverse group. First, I do understand why the GEN 1 bike is referred to as a HEATER. Because, even in full riding gear, it gets hot. The bike is responsive, handles well, and as comfortable as can be expected. I did note some headshake at HIGH speeds. Of course, given my screen name, high speeds are only what the speed limit signs are!!!!!!! The bike, with tour pack, has lots of packing room. The brakes are great, with stopping power that is super. The gas seemed to go pretty quickly though. What should I expect in terms of mpg on the feej? My ass was hurting a bit when I finished a 200 mile ride. They tell me to get used to that, it is called motorcycling. Overall, I have to say, I am looking forward to my first BIG ride.........I am leaving my puddle jumpin' Harley ridin' brethren behind.

Average 38 - 42MPG! Ignore that and the FJR will make you a very HAPPY LAWDOG!!

Enjoy! :assassin:

Oh buddy, there's some great riding in and around Lewisburg.

We've had EOM there the last couple years and I can't wait to go back :)

In your neck of the woods with spirited riding you should still get MPG in the 40's. :)

Welcome! I've been averaging about 42-45mpg (depending on the roads for the past year. And let the seat break in for a thousand miles or so. I had the same issue when my bike was new but now I can go all day with only a little discomfort.

I am getting about 200 miles to a tank of gas with a mix of 75mph Interstae driving and stop & go, bumper-to-bumper on my 25 mile ride to work.

Send your seat to Spencer (greatdaytoride.com) for a little work. Night and day difference from stock.
