Time to rewinterize your bikes boys!! :p

A storm system moving through the Northeast is bringing a decidedly winter-like feel to northern New England today, producing several inches of snow in the Adirondacks, Green and White Mountains and a chilly rain in the lower elevations. The snow will certainly hamper travel today and could also cause a few power outages.

The late-April wintry blast is due to a low pressure system crawling northeastward along the New England Coast. The low is part of the same storm system that was responsible for the damaging tornadoes in the Deep South over the weekend, but the severe threat is long gone now. Instead, this system is pulling cold air southward from Canada, where the air mass is mixing with Atlantic moisture.

Enough cold air is getting into northern New York, Vermont and New Hampshire to cause the moisture to be squeezed out as snowflakes. Plenty of snowflakes are expected to accumulate on the ground today and tonight.

Higher elevations will see all snow, while elevations around 1,000 feet will start as a rain-snow mix turning over to all snow after sunset tonight. By the time it all winds down midday Wednesday, six to 12 inches of snow will fall across the higher elevations of New Hampshire and Vermont, including Mount Washington and northern Vermont`s ski areas. A few inches of new snow will also fall across New York`s Adirondacks.

I love snow. My wife says it's because I've never lived where you have to shovel it! She might be right...Florida, NC, Texas, GA & CA. We rarely get to see it out this way and when it does arrive, 1/2 an inch shuts the entire system down. It's a hoot really.

Cheers,

W2

We share your pain, Axeman! It's going to be 96 degrees here in Phoenix today, so we're forced to summerize our FJR's with fresh coolant and break out the mesh ventilated gear!!

New forecast this Noon time is saying 10" to 20" of snow in Northern VT mountains! :grrr: What's up with that??

Tom

It is in the mid 40's F here but I had a few flakes falling this afternoon. The sun is out now. Forecast is for rain and snow tonight and tomorrow. I hope the cold goes back north very quickly.

It reached 101 today in Lake Havasu. I had to come in doors where my air conditioning is running to keep my house at a cool 74 degrees. My real winter gear has cobwebs on it from lack of use.

But I better not talk too soon. The weather could change any minute and I could find myself walking around freezing in sub-80 degree temps.

I hope I don't hit freezing rain or blizzard conditions down around Wickenburg next month.
