Universal Technical Institute rented Sacramento Raceway for the day and even supplied lunch. Employees, students and friends were allowed to run the 1/4 mile for free.

Terri and I rode the 40 miles to the track, with the family riding up in the car to watch. RogDeb came to watch and recorded a movie. I will add that later.

I made my first run in over 30 years on the 1/4 mile. My first run was 12.73 at 108mph with the bags on. For my second run I took off the bags and folded back the mirrors for a run of 12.12 at 116.8mph. I had other things to do today and only did the two runs. I am sure I could get into the 11s with more runs.Maybe into the 10s with less than a 250lb rider. :p

Not bad for a bike with 75,000 miles, no valve adjusts, no cam chain tensioner, no ticker,or other repairs. I consider a battery and tires maintanance items.

I'm confused, how does your bike not blow up with no cam chain tensioner??????

Sounds like fun times Mikey!!!

I've never run a dragstrip....well there was that one time...I bet it is a TON of fun.

...I'd probably blow my bike up though, somehow.

Why don't you have your valves checked? You're playing russian rulette in my not so humble opinion.

I am not much of a gambler and don't even own a revolver anymore.

I check the valve clearance myself and no adjustments have been needed. I even have a shim selection waiting to be used.

I would never assume your opinion is humble. See you at Taos. :yahoo: :yahoo: :p :p

Gotcha! I thought you meant you had never even checked the valves in 75k.

I feel much better now! :D

Figures.... a guy who can do his own valve adjust, cam tensioner doesn't need it :glare:

Nice times ;)
I am not the drag racer and had to have the time slip explained to me. Today I found out my 1/8 mile speed was 98.6 mph. Must be that Gen 1 gearing making it quick out of the hole. Maybe next time I should wind it up to the redline too. With a 116 mph top speed I was only 4 mph from needing full leathers. Many cows would die for that suit.
