So, my brother, Der Colonel, gets his walking papers in January from Special Forces (He's been doing spook **** and PSYOPS at SOCOM, MacDill AFB in Tampa, these last 6 years) . He has 3 or 4 months of vacation accumulated (how is that possible and how do I get that kinda time off?), so he could basically put his feet up and sip Piña Coladas on the beach for the duration. Well, at least he chose the sand part, anyway:

And, for his first Sand Box task, he got to play Duck the Bullets that were peppering his temporary office:

Oddly, this is the first time since he joined Special Forces 25 or so years ago that the family has known of his whereabouts when he goes 'missing'. This is pretty much just a brag on my part as I'm pretty proud of that sick-ass mofo. Don't send messages of concern, either. This guy gets major (colonel?!) hard-ons for this kinda ****. I swear, 53 years old and he still jumps outta perfectly good military transport and then pops a wad getting shot at. Big goof! :dntknw:

Anyway, when you finally do see him lying on the beach in the Tampa/St. Pete area, stop by, say hello and don't forget to buy him a Piña Colada. ;)

A big Hoooah! for your brother.

I don't get it either! My brother-in-law is a retired Ranger, and yet he's over there too (Al Asad) as some sort of civilian 'advisor'. Whatever the thrill, as a civilian there's some money involved!

Did my time as a veteran of the old Cold War. I'll stay o'er here wit' my m'orcycle!

I'm blown away by the fact that a guy my age gets to use dark ops, bullets, and jumping out of planes to get his kicks - and why isn't he inviting his kid brother along ?

Nut, tell him for me that he's doing us PROUD !!

Have a friend that spent his 30 year career with special forces, he spent a lot of time in places he wasn't. We'll never know how much we owe these people.

I did a measly 4.5 years in the Air Force and was lucky enough to be born at just the right time to be able to do my time between wars. I managed to just miss Viet Nam. Started basic in Jan of 1975. But one thing I am thankfull for is that I got to tour Berlin, East and West, before the wall came down. Gave me a MUCH greater appreciation for what I was doing over there. Still have a couple bricks from an old section of the wall to remind me.

Give the Col a salute and a thank-you from me too. I can only have a faint glimmer of an idea of the stuff he has seen...and that scares the **** out of me.

twowheelnut,

<SALUTE> to your brother! I appreciate his and many other's service to this nation. Hooah!

RLTW!!

Hey TWN, tell your brother I fully appreciate all he has done. If he ends up well off, and comfortable in retirement, then I am PROUD to have paid my taxes. Unlike some taxes we pay, (uh-oh, political diatribe about to commence).. uh, sorry Iggy, really..

Well, just say Thank You to your bro from a complete stranger yet full-on-American for him putting his ass on the line so I can ride free. :yahoo:

TWN, tell your brother thanks for me. I spent some time at MacDill myself in the '80s. I went a lot of places I never went. All of my non-trips went south though. Think fresh bananas and good coffee :secret:
