This is in no way bike related! :D

Has anyone every replaced the Heater/A/C Fan in there SUV?

I have a 01 Isuzu Rodeo and the Fan is making a loud rumbling noise.

the other day it just didn't turn on at all, Today it worked ok, but it's still making that low end rumble? even shakes the dash when i put it on high?

(Just started doing it out of the blue no symptoms or anything!)

Any Ideas?

Thanks.

It used to be fairly easy to replace the blower fan in most vehicles. Usually they are accessible from under the hood, on the firewall. I don't know about your Isuzu. It might be time to invest in a service manual. (Haynes or Clymer are a lot less expensive than factory, if available, though not as extensive). Take a look under the hood and see if there is a round looking assembly approximately six to eight inches in diameter that is held with some bolts mostly equally surrounding the diameter. After removing the bolts/screws the motor should pull straight out and a squirrel cage fan should be attached to the fan motor shaft. It sounds like your motor is on the way out or the bearing are giving up the ghost. It could also be that you sucked in a piece of debris and it has gotten stuck in the cage and is making your fan unbalanced. Again, I'm not sure you have a fan as described above but it's worth a look.

OMG Shitty Job is right, i crawled or should I say I tried to crawl under the dash this morning to figure it out, Damn ya have to be frickin contortionist :assasin: to get under there. I'm taking it to the Dealer..........lmao

Thanks for your replies though :D

Took the fan out today, I have no idea how string and some bits of plastic were inside the cage? I was like wtf? cleaned it out, all works good now! :D

The intake vents are 1/8 of an inch or smaller I don't know how the crap got in the fan. Strange

If you have an Isuzu Rodeo, the best way to fix the fan is find the deepest river or lake you can, and put the Rodeo there. I had an Isuzu extended cab pickup--the pickup version of the Rodeo. It was pretty but it was a POS, with out-of-date technology, underpowered and more repairs under warranty than you'd believe.

Sorry, I'm no fan of Isuzu trucks.

Quit yer bitchin. Some Saabs you have to split the firewall, as in break welds, to remove the motor.

Long ago and far away in another galaxy........when there was no money to replace the fan motors in my GM cars and trucks, I pulled the fan and examine the squirrel cage bearings. They get egg shaped after about 75,000 miles. I'd rotate the bearing 90 degrees, grease and re-install. Good for another 10,000 miles, then repeat.
