Hi,
I had my TPS on my 03 replaced about 6 weeks ago. 1 week after that I went on a trip to Nova Scotia. About mid week, I noticed that my FJR started to exhibit strange behavior when the throttle was in the 'off' position. This behavior did not happen if the throttle was open.
I would feel a 'surge' with my legs.
It felt like it was coming from the tank.
When the bike wasn't moving, I could hear it.
All of sudden, a 'shudder' would go through the bike, accompanied by a fairly loud sound.
The sound sounded something like what I would expect to hear if fluid was running through a hose and then a big 'burst' of fluid entered the hose and came out the other side.
The best I can come up with is the fuel pump is pressurizing the fuel too much and releasing some of it's pressure back into the tank.
It would make sense if there was some kind of a pressure relief valve on the pump, that would match up with the sound I hear and feel.
Has anyone had this kind of issue before? I searched but did not find anything, and I don't remember this being discussed before.
Is this something the dealer could have screwed up when he changed the TPS?
I bought the bike with 4K miles this Feb, put 7K on, had the TPS changed, then put another 5K on. For the first 7K, no 'surge', but the bike would stall at idle->TPS change fixed that, but then for the last 4K I have had this wierd noise and can feel it.
This does not affect performance of the bike at all, if I give it a little throttle, it still happens but there is no 'miss' in the engine when it does. When I have the throttle open above 1/4 it doesn't happen.
Thoughts?
Thanks.
