I've only been a member here for a week now (picked up my FJR on 4/22) and I have to say I've had some of the best laughs I've had recently reading some of these threads.

I've only put 700 miles on my FJR so far, and coming from a Bandit 1200S, the FJR is a marvelous machine.

Suzuki had a problem on some of the '01 and '02 Bandit 1200s with improperly drilled oil return holes in the pistons that would cause some to consume up to a half-quart of oil in 600- 1,000 miles. Check some of the Suzuki Bandit forums for the "oil burning" threads. Suzuki for the longest time refused to admit there was a problem. They finally issued a bulletin to the dealers to replace the pistons (as long as it was still under warranty), but it certainly left many Bandit owners with a sour taste from Suzuki.

It seems Yamaha is much more end-user oriented. Like when the new R6 came out with a claimed redline of 17,500 rpm. Once the bikes started getting in the hands of testers, it was determined that the real readline was a little over 16K. Shortly after that word started getting out, Yamaha offered to buy the R6s at full price + tax, tags, etc. from any purchaser who was dissatisfied.

This seems to be a great place to hang out.

Christ Almighty, God forbid the guy should spend 13K on a product and actually have an opinion about it. Evidently, FredH unless you only have love and kisses and sweet little roses to throw out about your FJR don't bother posting an opinion on here......Its a great bike but I don't get a hard-on every time I look at it or get on it. He has some valid points and while I don't agree with everything he says I certainly can understand that he is entitled to his opinion. So if your "***** hurts", don't read his threads....
So what yer sayin' is it's okay for FredH to have an opinion, 'cause he's a new owner, but no one else is allowed to have an opinion as well?

Jeezus in a jeep, your "don't read his threads" is the weakest, lamest comeback in the history of weak, lame comebacks. May even become a forum benchmark.

Perhaps you need a little smear

for YOUR *****.

Also, just because someone has a couple of minor (or even major) gripes, doesn't mean that they think the good doesn't out-weigh the bad. After all, Yamaha made many changes to the 06 based on feedback, and corrected some of the things that may of us pointed out. Let's not be so thin-skinned to think that the FJR (or _any_ bike) is the perfect bike, or that pointing out and discussing what someone might think are flaws means that we're just "bitching and moaning". We all know that it can't be the perfect bike, until they at least move the f'ing battery, anway. :p

Hey, radio....is that balm only available in vermont? I don't know is texas will allow any of that stuff across it's border.

I found it in the cosmetics section at my local Walgreen pharmacy.

A few years ago Shania Twain, on an appearance on the Oprah show, admitted using it on her face during cold Canadian winters. The endorsement was such a boon to the company they took the product national to great success.

Oh, in the future, feel free to refer to me as "Howie". Radio is what I do...Howie is who I am. :)

..uh oh..

despite all the witty repetoire, the post counts don't seem to be moving.

twn will be forever stuck below 4k

I never asked to be a wing commander....all I'm commanding is jack and ****....and jack left town.

Fred

Have read some of your posts here and on the Wing board. Sincerely appreciate your contributions to cycling and respect you experience and skills. Its not that I would disagree with you about a few of your grievances with the FJR. However, I just gotta say, {I think mine is a marvelous machine, which, I would find it difficult to lodge a list of grievances about}. But, to put things in perspective, my last street bike was a Kawi H2 (not a Goldwing) and that was decades ago.

A trip down memory lane.
I love the memories of that bike (the H2). It never failed to please in one way or another. If I were to nickname that bike it would be “FRANTIC FRAN”. Because, she gave me many rides in which, she would vibrate and shake furiously while simultaneously screaming with her front wheel pawing at the sky. Faults, well maybe she had some. But, none I would publicly criticize her for. Perhaps, she lives larger than life now, in the still vivid yet distant memories of my youth, rather than in the reality of her heyday. No what I mean?

Anyway, for me, not having been on a street-bike for decades, and then going for a ride on the FJR, leaves me remarkably impressed by the machine and the experience. Therefore, I remark! I’m amazed at how the bikes have improved over the years.

Look forward to reading your posts.

Still new at this and learning how to post. Meant to have a space between the second and third paragraph saying, “Now back to reality”. Anybody care to share quick hints on how to edit one’s previous post.

Never mind. Just saw the edit button. Pitful, Huh? Must need new reading glasses.

I agree, this is a real improvement and move forward in technology, and I applaud Yamaha on many fronts, most noteable for making ABS standard. But I can also see some room for improvements too.

The engine and drivetrain and suspension and brakes (the things that really count) are right on. I just have a few nitpicks, thats all.

And no, I don't need no stinkin sauve, but thanks for thinking of me. Y'all need to take a chill pill and lighten up a bit. For cryin out loud, it's just a motorcycle. You'd think I just insulted your momma or sumpthin.

Just to be perfectly clear:

1. I like the bike

2. I REALLY like the bike

3. It is NOT perfect

4. It is better than the 03, 04, & 05 because people picked at the imperfections. In some cases they constructively picked and in others they offered viable solutions. Either way - the breed got better

5. the 07 will probably be better than the 06 - partially because of improvements in technology and probably because of input from riders.

6. If no one complained - you would be riding Connies for Christ sake or ST1100's (remember how long both of those bikes basically went UNchanged).

7. Personally, I would rather hear a owner/rider complain or make suggestions than some magazine hack who will spend a day on the bike and possibly never ride it again. Insufficient data from him, based on incomplete experiences and probable pre-conceptions.

8. KEEP ON COMPLAINING - Does anyone know (for sure) if anyone from Yamaha reads this (or other) forum?

9. President Fred - make that a priority - a dedicated forum(s) reader !!!!!!
