Had a thought recently regarding solving the heat problem, why not just strip off all of the body work during the summer months. Seriously. Wouldn't that allow the heat to dissipate away from the rider very effectively? Especially at speed? Plus I think it might look kinda cool too.

Thoughts?

That's taking function over form to extreme new heights  .

Okay, try it. It undoubtably will channel the heat away from you. And post some pictures.

Better get used to being called Road Warrior, though.

Sure! Having dangly bits at 100 sounds like a hoot. What doesn't find your back tire will surely be able to be replaced at the dealer. And I'm sure the aerodynamics at 130 are a riot.

Better yet. Just trade your FJR in and buy an FZ1. At least the coolant tank won't be hanging there looking ugly. Finding thread it's new home......now.

I recall seeing a picture posted somewhere of an FJR with the lowers off. I can't find it now so I don't know what else the guy did to make it work, but he was happily riding it with no lowers. Looked fugly to me, but I have no taste anyway.

I have indeed done it,I took them off and I kind'a liked it exept the coolant tank screws the look.Other than that it looks very bully. It does run one bar cooler in all situations. No pics though, but I got some "WTF" looks on the road.

I have also done this. I had all the plastics on the front stripped off, no windsheild, completly nekkid sans tail.

This was to evaluate mechanical situation of bike while awaiting plastic parts, I didn't do it to have a nekkid FJR.

I went on several rides, up to about 70 mph. Bike is fine. If you fixed the coolant tank and some other cosmetic stuff *cough cough* battery relocation *cough cough* It could be a sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet looking ride.

There's better options than messing up an FJR though.

It wasn't that much cooler, either (temperature wise)

I'm sayin'!

If you want a nekkid bike there are much more affordable solutions where you don't invest in the plastic just to remove it.

The Speed Triple and Monster come to mind right away.
