First let me qualify this suggestion by saying that I have to date only attended one regional FJR meet, that being EOM last September so this might not apply to all regional rally's.

After I returned home, I realized how many local riders had actually attended EOM and I never had gotten a chance to meet them or talk to them when we were all together because there was no way to easily identify what area anybody was from. I thought it would be nice if there were some way that we could identify riders by region (i.e.: New England, mid atlantic, etc...) or by State. I'm not sure how that would work. Different color name tag for each region maybe? Breaking it down by State might be a bit much. Even something as simple as a show of hands when a State or region is called? In my particular case it would have been nice for me to meet riders from Rhode Island, Connecticut, Long Island, NJ, and NY. It would be nice to hear what others think about this.

You forgot to mention different countries  ....since some of us don't allow borders to be barriers.... :derisive: ....

At WFO I make the nametags which have included real name and online handle. This year, I'm planning to add city and state to them........and the metric equivalent called "province" for our friends to the north eh. I haven't quite figured out an easy way to do avatars yet though.

Online we have the WFO Attendee Map to aid people prior to the event who to look out for or PM. It is still being populated and developed. It's a free technology we can share with other regional events....provided that have some web page skills.

Canadians - could wear a beaver hat

Southerners - could drape themselves in kudzu

Texans - could wear cowboy hats

New Yorkers - could wear a superior attitude

Floridians - could proudly display their AARP cards.

etc?

I'm sure all New Yorkers appreciate that blanket generalization Gypsy <_<

By the way....New York is a state as well as a city....
Is it just me, or did Axeman just completely walk into that one?

And Gypsy, Beaver Hat? Is that the best stereotype you could come up with? You know very well the Canadians will show up wearing a parka with a pair of snowshoes, skates and a hockey stick strapped to the back of the bike. The bike itself will be pulled by a team of huskys and will be sporting snow chains on the tires. At dinner they will easily be spotted as the ones sitting around eating a plate of poutine. Plus they'll be the only ones that can pronounce the word about properly. Man, you dont know anything about Canadians......

:nhl: :nhl2:

All kidding aside. I'm organizing CFR 2007 and while it is over 7 months away at this point I am strongly considering posting a map of where everyone is from. (It might just take me a bit of time to get around to it) I'm also considering nametags for the rally and the idea of putting the persons location on the nametag is a good one.

Axeman some of my best friends are NYers! The rest of us are just jealous! :) And as someone who lived in Jersey City I had to put up with these comments! I am just surprised no one has written and asked 'what's kudzu'?

I like it! So Floridians aren't Southerners? I thought NY was a state of mind?

Massachusettiers could walk around with a dildo up their ass; what with being used to the humping from their Senators!
