So, my roommate (who's also a hobbyist photographer making the occasional wedding buck) decided he wanted to tag along on a Suches photography trip. He'd sold his '03 copper SV-1000 about a month before, so we took the car. Although, after driving the loop, I think he's decided to get another bike- don't know if I'll get him to join the FJR club; he's been making eyes at the Beemers. Whatever. Made the usual stops on Wolf Pen and 129, although one of the folks who stopped and chatted mentioned they were surprised we hadn't been run off yet. I'd been hearing rumors of this on other sites, so I asked what for- apparently, since almost all of the Loop runs through the Chattahoochee National Forest, we're supposed to have a permit from them to photograph; and the Sheriff of Lumpkin County apparently considers it "immoral" because photographers encourage the bikes to speed and show off. Hmm. I'll investigate the permit thing (on a US highway?); the "immoral" part won't fly, though. Never saw a Sheriff's Deputy while we were there, though.

Big grin on this one:

Roommate had a twinge of nostalgia over this one:

great pics, thanks again. Going to have to find out where you are set up next time we got to the mountains for a little fun.

Two pieces of information from a trusted source (who I won't name but is very high in Forest Service law enformcement).

#1 Yes you need a permit for commercial photogrophy on federal land. Pictures for your own amusement are fine just don't put a killboy sticker on the side of your ride and be prepared to answer an inquiry or two if you make an everyday habit of it.

#2 The feds are getting a little ticked with the speed demons running the loop and terrorizing the tourists and hikers. Expect the Lumkin County sheriff to have some help soon from the feds.

You might want to take your rides and your pictures up on Hwy 60 in Union and Fannin counties as soon as the paving crew is finished.
