Not sure why, but it has happened to mine a few times also. Low battery voltage is one possibility. Look at the service manual to see what the others are, there is a whole section on the ABS. Don't be too concerned, as long as it is flashing, the ABS system will still work. Even if it stays on solid, the ABS will not work but your brakes should function otherwise.

You don't mention or show what year FJR you're riding, but I've got a 2007 and it's happened to mine a few times. The first time was last winter and I thought it was a "cold" issue. But it happened again last week when it was about 70 degrees. I does seem to occur randomly and not just under certain circumstances. Just stopping.

One thing I noticed was that it would show up after making a stop - but that at the next stop it would reset and not show up again. Did not have to shut down the bike. Manual says it is a sensor issue but that the ABS is still working.

My son has a Beemer R1150 and his ABS light will do this sometimes also. The one thing our bikes have in common is the Kisan Tailblazer, and I have a LED third brake light set-up. If you have none of these, then they would not be contributing to the problem.

Next time I'm in Durango, I'm going to stop by and talk with the service manager - see what he says/thinks.

Rearus brackus leverous lubous.
I don't know for sure what language Odot is speaking but he may well have the answer to your problem with the brake light.

Odot's standard suggestion (I have taken the liberty of translating from our native tongue) to clean and lube the rear brake lever pivot and to make sure that the lever and the switch are adjusted propery is a reasonable place to start. However, it may not fix every issue that can cause the ABS light to flash, as in this case, or to stay on. There are a lot of other possibilities. The fact that it happens intermittently makes me think it is not just a problem with cleaning/lubrication or mechanical adjustment, but rather something to do with movement of electrons. Check the battery voltage. Readum lo manualum.

iffn the lever don't get pulled up all the way by the spring(which can be intermittant) the abs will think the rear brake is always applied.

Take a look at my recent post in tech/mech problems, sounds like the same deal. I'd do the link thing but not sure how..

Had (sometimes still have) the same thing on my '04. After numerous reads here on the forum, and checking several areas that were suggested, I do believe my problem is tied to my Backoff unit. First noticed the flashing not long after getting around to installing that. Thinking one of the splices I made probably distrupts the current somehow. Anyway, goes away like everyone else's and have road-checked the ABS, which seems to be working fine.

Interesting that your ABS system worked when the dash light was on solid. Mine definitely did not. It works fine with the light flashing, but not at all with it on solid. Mine occasionally does one or the other. In any case, I'll check that green wire. Thanks for the tip. Have you had the dash light come on (other than normally at startup) since you seated the wire?

I had Kisan Tailblazers installed on my 07 for a while. They would periodically make the ABS warning light blink. I contacted Kisan and sent them back. They sent me a new set, but they did the same thing. I took them out.

I have a Back-Off brake light modulator on my 07 and had one on my 05. I never had a problem with the ABS light on the 05 and haven't had one on the 07 after removing the Tailblazers and installing the Back-Off. I don't have the brake light modulator flashing the main brake lights, though. It's flashing the lights on a single-row LED license plate frame.

I rode enough today to be sure my problem is resolved, no flashing ABS light, damn happyy for that you can be sure. BTW, it turned out that this green wire has a red stripe, cant see that in the pic I posted.....to get access I removed the lower fairing on the left side, this allowed me to get a hand on the connector..push the loose wire/pin back in the connector, now all is well.
