With Zero miles I put the Speigler Brake Disc on and changed to the Corbon Lorraine pads. The rear is Ok. The front only with the brakes on there is an anoying click click like vibration. I never had ABS before so I don't know if it is pulsing. Calipers and disc are tight. Pads were super simple to change. That seems to be the only malady in an otherwise super smooth ride. Thanks, TJ

I went back out and looked my MC over. Damn, all around the front wheel and the brake side in the back, brake dust is flung all over. I have never seen that on a MC before. I did take it up to 90 and then hit the binders. I wasn't impressed with the braking power. My SV 650 with SS lines and Corbon L brakes feels like it stops a hell of a lot quicker. Ain't nobody have any ideas? TJ

Gotta break in those pads pal. Get them good and hot, allow to completely cool, blast the opening at the top of the caliper with brake clean to remove all the residual dust and goop and they should work better. High performance pads do not generate max braking cold-they work better with heat in them, so initial stopping power will be less than you are used to with the oe pads.

Never had any 'clck click vibration' on mine before, are you describing the ABS kicking in? Was this sound/feeling present with the oem rotors/pads. If not I would check over all work since you have also stated that the brakes did not feel strong.

It could also be the new pads as mentioned by radman as to why you experinced poor braking performance. I have not installed mine yet, but I'm sure others have already. This hardware should improve the brakes, not hinder them.

On my OEM hardware, I have done some 90 to hard stop braking just to see how it all works and the stock FJR brake setup is pretty good IMO. Also keep in mind that an SV650 is around 200lb's lighter 'wet' than an ABS FJR.

I've done small stoppies on my FJR with the Carbon Larraine pads. I can litterally stop on a dime. Suspect you need top get them bedded in properly with the new rotors.

I have the same pads on my SV and it has SS lines front. I have had no pad issues at all on that bike.

The FJR I went for an 86 mile continuous ride with little traffic. On the gas hard, and on the brakes hard numerous times. The brakes felt the same way the whole ride. The Disk look dead nuts, but I am going to check the runout. Lever travel wise I don't think there is any. Pad size verses disk vent holes it shouldn't feel like this. TJ

And they will. The pads must be heated up, then allowed to cool before the break-in is complete. Might be a good idea to pull it all apart and check for mistakes. Been known to happen to the best of us.

:stupid:

Rotors/pads need to be bedded in! Yeah, bed those puppies in properly and they work great!
