Earlier in the year I had the ABS warning light come on after about 15 minutes of triple digit running. Thought nothing of it as it went off after shutting down and re-starting.

Last few weeks it has happened 4 or 5 times. Looked thorugh the manual, but it says that if it stays off after re-sterting, no problem. Otherwise, I need to hook up some kind of diagnosis meter reader to a port buried under the tupperware.

Any thoughts?

Searched the forum using google, ABS Light and ABS warning, but not alot of info...

Mine came on, flashing, after my rear brake pedal went sticky, you can read my post here (don't be confused by my "Sh_47" error, that only happens with the AE/AS).

I never did understand the logic, but it was definately the cause in my case.

I suggest you check yours and lubricate if it's at all reluctant to release.

THe light is steady, and after the bike is shut off, it goes out and stays out.....until I ride aggressively..

When you say ride aggressively, do you mean brake aggressively also? If that's the case you may be boiling your brake fluid at the caliper and causing the light (just a guess). I think I would at least bleed the brakes and see if anything changes.

I bet a speed sensor is failing. The faster you go the faster the impulse signal frequency. If a sensor is failing it may become hard to read the pick up ring while it's doing warp speed.

My bike has done this since day one. If I break somewhat hard or accelerate rapidly, the ABS light is likely to flash untill I shutoff the bike and restart.

Mine just did this to me Sunday.

I did a 250 mile day and around a mile from the house while I was cruising home at 45mph The ABS light started to flash.

Any solutions yet?

My back brake does not seem to be sticking (who knows about a failing speed sensor?)

I saw this, but none seem to apply

[C-4] ABS warning light flashes every 0.5 second. Make sure the customer understands the possible conditions when the ABS warning light comes on.
1. Warning light flashes

The following are probable causes to explain why the ABS warning light flashed while riding and then stopped flashing or stopped when the main switch was set to "OFF", then to "ON".

1) The rear wheel was rotated with the motorcycle on the centerstand.

===> The system is normal.

(Not the case with my situation.)

2) The rear wheel raced.

===> The system is normal.

(Possible, but not probable in my situation.)

3) The motorcycle was ridden on the rear wheel with the front wheel

elevated.

===> The system is normal.

(Not likely in my situation.)

4) The motorcycle was ridden on extremely uneven roads continuously.

===> The system is normal.

(This could've been the case for me Sunday as I came into road

construction with uneven roads just around the time I noticed the

warning light flashing, but doesn't explain this morning's case.)

5) The brake switch is defective or improperly adjusted.

===> Replace or adjust.

This is a distinct possibility, as I have ruled out everything else.

2. Voltage drop

For the ABS to operate correctly, the voltage should always be higher than

the specified voltage. If the voltage drops to lower than 10v...

(Not in my case. I have a voltage meter onboard, it was @ 14v.)

3. ABS stopped by the ECU (ABS)

The ECU (ABS) may stop the operation if it is exposed to extremely strong electromagnetic waves or static electricity... Explain to the customer that

the ABS will operate normally.

In more than one place in the manual it states when the ABS flashes when riding it is normal and the system is always working.

If the warning light stays on, that's another story.
Guess it could be a voltage drop? But why?

This is not a flash, but steady on. Did 700 miles last weekend, and happened several times. Bleeding today, and results this weekend...

Oh you know I have an odd thing with the ABS as well. After letting the bike sit over night or even a few days with out riding it, right after starting I get this little studder feeling through the front end

Just wondering if this is the ABS going through some kind of self check or something. The ABS stabil trac on my Caddy does this kind of thing when the system is fubar. All this started after doing a Team Oregon Advance rider course. They make it part of the class where the rider is using the ABS on purpose in a few riding tasks. It doesn't effect riding after the shuddering is complete.

Just piutin it out there

Solution found...!
Dirty and slightly loose contact for the rear wheel sensor cable...!!!

:yahoo:
Good result!

If you aren't braking when this happens it can't be the ABS, 'cos the ABS can only release the brakes, it can't put them on.

I'll check that on mine, Dragonchef. I've been having the same issue - ABS light comes on solid after quick accel/high speed run. First time I saw this happen was on the racetrack, but that was under extreme braking/chassis bouncing. Now I do not brake at all before light comes on...will comment after I check the bike over.

Oh, and I DID bleed the brakes since track day.

I think I found my issue today.

The brake peddle was sticking (musta been that ride in the rain a picked up some goo).

I noticed after a short run I was not rolling very freely (intermittent) The problem was not in the callipers, but the peddle itself.
