My ABS light would sometimes start flashing after I start my ride, no codes on display, I would restart and it would reset and be fine, I think I read that if you battery falls below 10 volts? the ABS light will come on, does anyone know if this is true and if so do I need to replace my battery, I have an 06 with 7,500 miles, I bought the bike with 5,000 in Sept of 08.

Thanks

Check your rear brake isn't binding.

No, I'm serious. Click here.

Although this is under an error code heading, that's only for the YCCS thingy. Which yours isn't.

The rear swing arm pivot point is locking up and creating your rear brake to engage whilst you don't notice. The whole rear pivot arm has to come off to be relubed. It's about a twenty minute job. Did it myself.

My rear wheel was missing. [relief] Replaced it and bingo, no light. [/relief]

OK, this newbie gets it, today is Friday. Does this 'mode' last the full 24 hrs., or are there any 'safe' times one could expect a proper answer??

Sounds like it's time to pick on me??

[/Friday] The previous advice to check/clean the ABS pick-ups on the front/rear wheels and to check/clean the rear brake peddle are two high percentage things to do. There are some occasions like sharp rises and dips in the road or big bumps that can cause a wheel to slip and that will cause an ABS error - not a likely cause but just sayin... The rear brake peddle assembly needs to be maintenanced periodically, if you haven't yet done that to your 2-3 year old motorcycle start there. You will need to remove the whole brake peddle assembly to lube the pivots adequately. This same clean 'n lube maintenance with the shift lever pivots and foot peg assembly does wonders for shifting too. [Friday]

Sometimes Friday starts early and finishes late and there are some members that have Fridays every day. You seem to have been wise enough to pick up on this
