Hi,

I started moving with the disk lock on the read wheel today and I think I damaged the cable that goes from the abs sensor, it's not ripped but it got squished and probably broke inside.

The abs red light came on (and stays on) and the speedo, trip, odo is stuck.

By changing that cable, will I fix the problem?

Is the speedo one of those steel cables that rotates or it's an electric cable? Are both abs and speedo signals brought through that cable?

Thank you!

Hello,

More than likely, yes. You damaged the ABS pickup coil/wire, which reads the trigger wheel at the hub for the data necessary for ABS and a speedometer/odometer signal. That would explain why it's not working.

$90.39 from Partzilla.

Probably cheaper on eBay.

Yes I took it apart and the cable was broken inside. Will replace.Thank you
Is it repairable?

If you can't do it yourself there should be a local radio/TV repair place that could do it for a few dollars.

If you have to disconnect any wires (other than a plug/socket) make sure you take a picture first...........

I tried to fix it, since it's an electrical cable and quite easy to reconnect, but it was pulled from inside the sensor and you can't open the sensor to replace the cable (it's glued to make it watertight). so I went on ebay and bought an used one for 15£ (20$), including the black disk. I will detach the cable and install it. looks quite easy.

cheers

The sensor often will be seized in the disc. So, if you can't free it easily, swap the whole disc and sensor out. Will still work ok.
