I emailed SkooterG about an 04 that was for sale in the area that was specifically listed as having ABS and he saw a couple of things right away that I didn't catch when I looked at the ad. One was that the bags didn't match the year, but the major thing was that there wasn't an ABS sensor on the left side of the front wheel.
I just kind of shook my head at the time, but it got relisted a couple of days ago, so I decided I would email the guy and ask him what was up with that. He says that since there is a sticker on the front fender that says ABS he just assumed that it was. He did verify that there were no rings on either the front or back wheel.
I got to thinking that if I had just bought the bike believing that it was ABS, my emergency braking style would be completely different than a non ABS model. Instead of a progressive squeeze of the front brake I would just jam both brakes as hard and as fast as I could and let the computers do what they do. Then I got to thinking whether that is the right style either.
Does it upset the stability of the bike just to grab all of the brakes you can possibly get and worry about keeping it upright, or do you stick with a progressive squeeze?
