I have a cal-sci tall windshield, should I use the stock mounting bolts or replace them? I am concern that the taller windshield places considerable additional stress on the mounting screws.

Thanks in advance.

Well... it all depends.

I have replaced mine with some black stainless crews I had around from an old Concours screw upgrade kit, mostly because I'm switching shields so often and the plastic screws don't take that kind of abuse very well.

Someone will undoubtedly mention that the plastic screws were probably picked at that location as some sort of safety measure, should you decide to make an untimely exit over the handlebars.

You decide...

With a +6 +4 barn door windshield myself and cruising at FJR(max) a variety of times over the course of 80,000 miles, gusty winds, and hurricane remnants....and the stock fasteners have worked well. Also, those fasteners have been designed for a specific purpose....that I affirmed in this story.

+1 I tested the plastic screws on my get-off. They work as designed.... they snapped, which got the screen out of my my body's path. Both the screen and the 'W' survived remarkably well.

I've been running a +2+4 Cee Bailey's for about 40,000 miles and the stock plastic screws seem to work just fine. During my own deer slayer incident in 2006, the screws sheared just as they are suppose to.
