I know a dealer that will sell the GYTR's for right around $850ish. The GYTR cans have a nice low tone but are quiet on the highway baffles installed in. I have run them with the baffles out and are still not too loud. I recently did get my 2010 remapped since installing the GYTR's. The bike picked up an additional 5 HP from 3000 rpms to redline. I pulled the baffles out and made some additional pulls on the dyno. It did not make any difference baffles in or out, It made the same power. Nels said he could probably find 1-2 more HP but he would have to kill the fuel economy to do it. The bike is SUPER smooth and still gets 42 mpg (normal riding).

Anyone put a gen 2 or 3 on a dyno to see if there is any performance advantage with slip on's. I dyno tuned my 05 FJR with the Staintune's & power commander and the difference was only 4 HP. I didn't do anything with tuning on my 08 when I installed the same set of Staintune's and it ran fine. The 14 ES feels stronger stock than either of those previous FJR's and the stock fuel injection maps are flawless. I remember someone on this forum mentioning that Yamaha made some changes to the airbox sometime after the 08 model to free up some HP on the FJR but I have not pulled my gen 3 to even check the filter yet.

I've always been a Holeshot fan myself, but the Yamaha GYTR slip-ons are currently on my lust list. They look great and give a throatier sound but not too loud. Quietest of the aftermarket slip-ons I have heard.

As of 2015 the OEM aftermarket cans come from Yoshimura. I just put a set on my 2015ES for just over $800 plus tax directly form the dealer. They installed easily, come with heat shields for each side, have an FJR logo on the can and etched into the heat shields.Sound with the bevels installed is subdued and throaty. Better than stock. Sound really good around 4K RPM. The mounting is simple and IMHO a little flimsy as are the clamps compared to the beefy steel stuff on the OEM cans. Of course these are therefore a little heavier.

Have not had the baffles out to try, but I suspect the sound as is is good for me.

Good part is that they are made In the US, actually in Chino, CA, so warranty and fix it or parts should not be an issue. Don't know how to post pictures. If you want pics send me your email and I will send you some.

Check for Wicked Webby and Uselesspickles airbox mod threads. Lots of good info. inc. Dyno runs.

I'm looking for an aftermarket slip-on with a black finish. I had Two-Brothers on my 06 FJR and liked them but on a long trip they got on my nerves. I did not have the silencers in them so maybe that would have helped, I don't know. I do like the looks of the Two-Brothers Black Series https://www.twobros.com/sku/005-1560407DM-B but again, don't want the loudness when I'm on a long haul.

Anyone have suggestions for a black finish exhaust?

I know.....the finish shouldn't matter but I'm an asthetic type as well as function so...

Just add a silencer tip to the Two Bros exhausts!

I also chose Delkevic, mainly because of the price factor. A moderate growl when compared to stock at idle. Very nice tone under acceleration. Nice finish and fitment. https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/149310-delkevic-exhaust/?p=1250479]https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/149310-delkevic-exhaust/?p=1250479[/url]
Are the 14" length same as stock pipes? Really like the sound. Also, are they terribly loud cruising at highway speeds?
The 14" are a little shorter than stock pipes. If you leave the baffles in the Delks, the sound is muffled enough to be a little louder than stock, much thoatier, but not annoying on the slab.

Thanks! I'm going to search YouTube and see if I can find some sound clips of the two brothers with and without the silencers.

@FFF, if you like the sound of the Delks, the Two Bros with the more restrictive tip will sound similar. I have this current setup and used to have the Delks.I Reason for me changing is I like the looks of the Two Bros better and I got them really cheap ($375) from another forum member.

Wow, $375 is an awesome deal. It would be nice to be able to only install the silencer when I take long trips. I love the sound of the two brothers without the silencer 90% of my riding time.

This is the one you want, the PX1

Long trips? How do you hear the pipes above 2nd gear anyway? About the time I hit 3rd, the wind noise is overpowering the exhaust sound. If I go WOT, yeah, I can hear it, or if I downshift hard, I can, but droning along on the freeway with ear plugs in, or ear buds playing music, and the sound of my TBs is the LAST thing on my mind.

When I had my 06, I did not use ear plugs so that I could hear my J&M communication system. I agree that ear plugs or inner-ear sound is the best solution and would definitely keep your mind off loud pipes. When I used the cell phone piece of my communication system I could hardly hear the person talking to me.

Wow, no love for the V&H? I bought a set in 2014 on a Black Friday sale. I like the growl they have without being too loud and the black looks great. I have the standard baffle (they have less restrictive ones available).
