I just finished up wiring up a set FF50s on my '07 with FZ1 mirrors. Thanks to Siryan for his post on modifying the FZ1 bases. I took some pictures of the details and will post later.

I read the thread '07 Posts on aiming the FF50s. What are folks doing now? What's the current thoughts - cross aiming, straight ahead, to the sides, show far out compared to the low beam, etc. Most of my riding is day and dusk riding and not xcountry night riding.

Mine are pointed a bit outward. I let the high beams fill the center and use the FF's to spot those little red eyeballs peering back at me fromt he sides of the road. My FF50's are tied into my high beams.

+1 IT also gives more light when going around curves at night.

Ah yes, I remember now. Someone suggested crossing the beams so the left light lights up the right side of the road and the right light lights up the left side. The idea is that crossing the beams gives better lighting when leaned into a curve. I forgot about that suggestion and have not tried it, but it does make sense when I think about it. I'll give it a try next time I'm out after dark.

Hey Roy,

I'm with Silent. My high beams are aimed a bit lower than usual and the Hellas are slightly up and slightly out from the high beams. This fills out the coverage quite nicely. Low beams are pretty low, but with high beams and Hellas, it's great coverage in the ditches and in the curves.

The only thing I can see that might be an advantage of crossing them is that perhaps it helps to augment the highs in at closer range, given that it 'goes thru' the center of that area on it's way downrange to it's primary destination. Maybe?

I once owned a bike with the headlights 'crossed' -- I bought it that way (didn't know it). I wondered early on, "What's up with the headlights...?" Well, luckily, that bike had big, easily accessable, h/l adjustment knobs (looked-like Girl Scout cookies) -- so, one night (when I couldn't take it any longer) I thought, "I've got to adjust those things...!" When I started adjusting...."WTF!"

Once I got them straightened-out and properly adjusted they were fine (actually, good). Needless-to-say, I've never had any desire to 'cross' lights since.

YMMV  :)
