So I went to the local Wal-Mart in the USA (holiday in MB) to pick up some cheap (price) oil filters, and grabbed a $10 mini compressor while I was there.
When I got home I tore off the plastic and was left with this....(the powerlet was added by me)
I then used an old metal slide from my forks, when I had replaced the inner tube a few months ago, to make a shield for the moving parts....
This way I can leave it on the ground while it's running.
As you can see it ends up quite compact. I thought about removing the gauge and carrying a handheld unit, but the pressure is fairly accurate.
It fits quite easily beside my tool kit, which also contains my plug kit......
I do keep it in a bag so it stays dry. It may not look the greatest, but it's compact, and it works.
