That's what I need to know.which way to turn the screws to richen the idle side up a bit . I am going to do my tbs again because I think either one or all are on the lean side,(barely off the bottoming out position) or I have a vacuum leak. If I lug down the road at 60mph in high gear,I am barely off the idle position with the throttle and that is where it is dropping a cylinder or two. It runs great if I get it by this point. I only need responses from riders that are actual mechanics, not from you guys that just think you know everything and have too much time on your hands that you feel the need to out talk the other guy.about your knowledge(you know ,you guys that sound like a bunch of BMW riders hanging out at a beemer shop on Sat. morn.)

I might know but you're going to have to ask a lot nicer than that :p

Hey Evil,

Read his post...... You need to post your qualifications as a certified mechanic and a resume shownig at least 6 years experiance on FJR's to get an approval before you can post here.

:p :p :p :p :p :p

Besides........... he posted in the wrong forum!

Be glad to help once you post a pic showing that attitude stuck up yer ass.

I am not a certified mechanic, but I play one on the internet.

Here goes.

The idle air bleed screw only affects engine operation at idle. It should be set per the manual (pages 3-9/10) to 25cc/hg (plus about 1 inch for every 1K ft you are above sea level).

If your bike is stalling or running rough at off idle settings, the first thing that would be suspect in my book is the Throttle Position Sensor. There are obviously several other things that could also cause this (Intakle Air Pressure sensor, bad fuel injector, plugs or wires) but I would start with the TPS and go from there.

Do you have a fault code from the ECU?

It is really hard to try to troubleshoot fuel system problems over the internet, but I think I can say with a fair amount of confidence that you aren't going to fix it by turning the idle air bleed screws.

Oh, one more thing. There is a procedure on page 7-9 for adjusting the output voltage (.63 to .73 volts) of the TPS at idle. That would probably be a real good place to start.

Well, first remember this is a fuel injected bike running a map that uses feedback from the O2 sensor. That being the case trying to increase AF mix to be rich using the idle air screw would be a waste of time, in my non five star certified opinion.

I think what you want to do is the barbarian jumper mod and bump up your numbers to get it to run richer.

I would also do the full unsupported unofficial TBS.

Just my 2 cents.

I got a buddy mechanic of mine that rides a beemer. I'll call him up and ask him. He's in minnesota, though. Will you pay for the long distance?

Ahhhhhhhh.........I love a good dogpile.

Good job folks.

My opinion? Too bad, you're getting it anyways..........

Knuter valves. Word.

And..................

moving this thread to it's proper home.........

Come on Skoot... you know those are classic Fuel Filter blockage symptoms... ;) Kunuter valves only mess up at elevated temperature

I'd replace the Fuel Filter... definitely...
