Because it's reading correctly. Perfectly, one atmosphere is 760mm Hg. In bohemian countries like the US that use wonky units of measure, one atmosphere = 29.9 inches of Hg or 14.7 PSI.

752mm HG is 29.6 in HG

752mm HG is 14.5 PSI.

752mm HG is 0.98 atmosphere

Standard Temperature is 0C or 32F ... That produces 14.5 lb/sqin as 1 Atmosphere, but it's a bit inconveient.

So we generally use 68F, which gives 15 lb/sqin

The OP question shows a meter at sea level well within the readings expected for that height, given that he didn't specify local conditions at the time.

For motorcycle riding I thought my answer was sufficient. Now, say a feller were setting all the gauges for a nuclear plant or setting up an ion implanter then the decimal points start to matter. As we are crossing language and nationality lines with the OP I though I had already gone too far.

It's funny that my Motion Pro mercury filled Toxic Carb Tuner didn't mention that temperature would effect the readings... Go bite 'em Dave. (Motion Pro did say that if mercury were sucked into the carbs you shouldn't sniff the exhaust  )

Of course your info was enough ... we were messing.

As for the mercury tool ... it measures relative pressures not absolute, so temperature wouldn't affect it.
